I know that there are certain metals that corrode when brought in contact with aluminum. Can someone tell me if these choices are ok?
-Galvanized lag bolts -sink plated screws - copper staples
Thanks

Zink plated / galvanized screws do not get along with aluminum.

Really? The guy at the hardware store told me that those were the right ones! Yikes. Glad I've only done a few. I asked the question because I was feeling a bit uneasy not knowing for sure. I think I can switch them out still. What plating or finish should I be getting?
I should mention: -the galvanized screws went through 2x2s into the steel frame... so maybe that was correct? -the zinc screws are on the skirting. Could I coat the heads with silicone in order to create a barrier between the metals?

The screws through the 2X2s and into the steel frame is good. I believe that stainless steel is the preferred choice for staples and screws. It would require more than silicone to keep the zink screws from coming into contact with the aluminum. A larger hole than the screw would need to be drilled through the aluminum and into the wood a tiny ways, a stainless washer slid onto the screw then a stainless or plasticated bushing would need to be slid over the screws to keep it completely insulated from touching the aluminum.

And some more very good information, that should take the questionables out of choosing the proper fasteners.
