Somewhere along the way during this restoration journey, I have realized that I have a fixation on certain items for my trailer that I can't seem to get enough of.
-The first is dishes. I am now guilty of buying both red and turquoise cream and sugars. (Can't decide), and multiple sets of melamine dishes because they are so cool. (I justify this with positive self talk about seasonal decorating. Anyone have some melamine santa plates to sell??? lol)
-My second vintage trailer fetish, appears to be lights. Cool marker lights, porch lights, interior lights, 12 volt lights. I don't want to admit how many I own. Lets just say, that my table will be the fun place to shop at my first rally flea market, once I am finished my project and have to surrender all the extras to good homes.
Anyone else want to fess up?

The mirror. I hardly ever look in the mirror, I might see the REAL Me. LOL My wife or others might. Although the mirror is only about a twelve by eighteen, it is very old and I do not want to see it getting broke during the build. where I have it stored may not be the safest place but I know it is there and I lay nothing else on that shelf. LOL Thats all.

I have a thing for vintage hardware and interior and exterior lights. You can't have too many lights. I love the 55-62 hams but I like the 30s & 40s hardware better. The art deco looking pieces. The same goes for our 1982 house. When we moved in I took off all the door knobs and replaced them with circa 1910 glass knob.

Those are some nice knobs nccamper. We have a lot of the original woodwork, doors and knobs in my 1919 house.. It's one of the main reasons we bought it. Im not sure if I have a vintage trailer fetish or not. But only because I refrain myself from buying multiple items of the same kind of thing lol. I could see myself going a little crazy on the dishes too. Oh yeah I have bought quite a few globes for the lights in the compact. I kept finding ones for a dollar at the thrift store.

For me it's PARTS. I hoard them. If I get rid of something, the next day I need it. LOL

I have three sheds plus one of the fabric tent/garage things, The biggest shed is about 20X60 with a hay loft, a barn thing, everything is full. I have no more room, but, I am also not willing to part with any of it. I have been there and done that before then, just as You describe vikx, I will surely be needing it the very next day. LOL

I'm right there with you on the plates and melamine ladywendolyn I have melamine in various color schemes, even though none will go with my current camper theme. And just decor (era correct, not just glampy stuff)... fans, radios, etc. Soon my project will be to the point where I will at least feel safe in digging out all of my decor and see how much of it I'll actually use!

For me it's trim. When I walk in a trailer, a house, or anything else, I might not notice the color of the walls but I look at the details. The trim, how things are finished, how the corners meet up, if they are square etc. I would call it more of a "problem" though than a fetish. I am constantly looking at all of the stuff we have done thus far and wanting to redo it to look better. As my wife says, "we don't want it to look brand new!!"... ahem... yes dear, but we do want it to look like we knew what the $&%$& we were doing when we repaired/restored it.
I think trim is really where you can tell if someone did a good job or not. I guess that's the moral to my rambling.

I suppose if I had room for a fetish, it'd be vintage linens. I have a couple tablecloths for Hamlet, and I'd do more if we were able to get out more often and if I had more room. Other than that I am kind of a modified minimalist. I don't keep anything that I don't use at least a few times a year, either in Hamlet or in the house.

My fetish is definately wood. \Carved wood, wood trim, real wood paneling etc. In our house I added some very nice hand carved posts that hold up the ceiling, and hand carved, hand stained finished etc cabinets in the bathroom, See juboka at houzz ... As far as hardware, I too really like the 1930's (not sure) brass figured Eastlake style its very cool and readily available. Being a specialist in the fashion industry, my real expertise in fabrics goes way back also. I found a few pieces of '1950's vintage French Barkcloth' on Etsy for the trailer! :) Its nice if a few 'things' can make one feel they have something no one else has, something that is unique to them. I believe in loving everything you have inside your life. If it makes you feel crappy get rid of it.
p/s Wendolyn did you or anybody look up the 'Winfield Bamboo' dishes I got for Gypsy? They were made in the 1950's right here in Santa Monica. So amazing I got a giant set to use in the Spartan. For 100.

Actually the set cost me 100, it includes 24 plates, platters, pitchers etc etc, maybe I will share some of it once I figure out how many will be kept in the trailer. Funny, a close friend of the family knew someone who worked at the Winfield ceramics plant!
