I believe this is an evaporative air cooler not an a/c unit. It makes the air feel cooler by humidifying. They call them Swamp Coolers. This is the AC unit I'm waiting for that should be out this year. www.noriahome.com/a-revolution-in-home-comfort/

It might help a little, but I doubt it will do much to cool the trailer. I have a much larger evaporative cooler and it does feel cooler if it blowing right on you, but doesn't do much for the room. Filling with ice water helps. It probably wouldn't be great for humid climates.

Swamp coolers don't work well even if designed for an RV. Little trailers get really hot. I wouldn't trust the above with my cat. I have heard that there are "cool pads" for pets, but again, don't think they will do enough in a roasting canned ham...
The only thing that might work is some sort of safe cage under the trailer, maybe with access to the inside? Of course, that might present other dangers. Your cat's safety depends on the weather as well. Nothing is going to work in the desert, in temps over 90 degrees or areas with high humidity.
Maybe some others will chime in with ideas.

A little off subject, but our daughter has been pushing for getting a cat (which will inevitably end up as her parent's cat!) I have read that most cats really hate travelling in a car and will be overly stressed. Anyone have experience? I don't think we'd want to board it during our trips.

Our cat traveled coast to coast many times in the t-100. Litter box and water bowl on the floor behind the front seat, him in a harness with the leash tied to front headrest just in case of an accident. He'd fall asleep within minutes of getting on the road. Won't say he looked forward to car rides like the dog, but didn't complain.

I think the trick is to start them traveling by car as young as possible. Older cats don't enjoy it at all.

Thanks! The other problem we have is that my wife is extremely allergic to cats. Someone told us if we get a newborn kitten right from the start, she will become acclimated to it?

I saw that on jet.com a little larger of a unit and it had horrible reviews. Most said made the area humid at most and did not cool.

Swamp coolers only work in dry climates. It works to cool the air the same way sweat works to cool your body. And you know how poorly sweating works when it's humid out.

I am allergic to cats, and I have two cats. I am more resistant to my own cats after living with them. If I go to someone else's house with cats I have typical reaction to them. I am not "cured" with my own cats by any means, but it is not bad. In the spring when they blow coats it is worse and I take allergy meds and the walmart red/green decongestants are the bomb!!! They work amazing. My cats are working cats! They are mousers, and I have no mice in my house in a area that would have a ton of field mice.

I can leave my 2 cats alone at home with plenty of water, food and 2 extra litter boxes for a full week. And about your wife being allergic... I'm allergic to our cats that we've had for 6 years and it still bothers me during their shedding season (which seems to be all the damn time).
