Hi Everybody, I just bought a 1969 Scotty Serro Sportsman (but it says Gaucho on one of the emblems inside) - so I'm already confused - is it a Sportsman or a Gaucho? Anyway, it had some leaks and I have my work cut out for me. I am in the process of looking for some missing parts. I need the refrigerator - the manual says it had an Astral. It has a propane light and i cannot figure out if it's complete - I think it's missing a globe - but can't tell...can anybody ID this lamp? www.flickr.com/gp/147983385@N06/x31n1K

Thank you Mr. Marty - the picture is showing up when I post, but for some reason not here in the forum. Thanks for the link. I now could see the link. I have never seen a gaslamp like that one. It does not look like it ever had a globe over the mantle. At least I see no way that a globe could have been attached to the bell. I guess a person could tie a mantle to it and try it out. Just make sure to pressure test it before trying to light it. Just keep the gas valve off at the lamp, turn the gas valve on at the propane tank, using soapy/sudsy water and brush the fittings, valves and joints and look for bubbles to form. If there are any leaks whatever, those need to be addressed before ever trying to light the lamp. Propane is safe in its environment but deadly outside of its controlled environment. Be very careful and while You are at it, check all of the fitting, to the furnace and stove/oven too. Any leaks, however small, is a bad leak. It might be safest, if You want or need a gas lamp, to just buy a new one.

Thank you...both my husband and I work for a gas company so we are pretty familiar with propane and natural gas; my aim is to restore the Scotty to original so I guess I'll keep looking for a gas lamp like mine. The previous owner said it worked and they used it last year. It just seems like it needs a globe to me. There were two documents in the paperwork I found in the trailer. One was a card that had instructions for typing on a Humphrey No. 39 Beret Tie-On Mantle and the other was a pamphlet for Sun Lite LP Gas Lights.

You are fortunate that You have the pamphlets and instructions for the lamp. to Me it seems that there should be a globe to protect the mantle. Maybe not on Your particular lamp. You might try sending trailertrasher a PM message and it might be possible that He could have another lamp just like Yours. Hey, I just did a search of the innernet for the Sun Lite gas lamps and I found that vintage trailer Supply might have components for Your lamp. Click the link. link

Thank you all! I didn't realize that the bottom ring on the lantern was movable...now I see how it works. I've ordered that "crocus globe" and tie on mantle. Thanks so very much. Appreciate ya all.

One more question please...what is the model of my trailer? It's a 1969 and has emblems for Serro Scotty Sportsman on the outside but on the inside it has a Gaucho emblem. Confused.

Christine, my '69 Scotty also has a sportsman emblem but it is a Hilander. Here's the place to go for good Scotty info; www.nationalserroscotty.org/It's a good group of people and there are lots of rebuild posts too.

After looking at several posts on here, I am thinking my Sunlite gas lamp has been disassembled and put back together incorrectly. Can anybody confirm? Send me a photo of how it needs to be reassembled? Please and thank you.
