Hi All, First let me start by introducing myself. My name is Josh and I finally got myself a Ham Can. My background is in mechanics (auto & forklift). I've done a lot of fabrication work on hot rods and 4x4. Now the trailer.... My grandfather always had this little trailer on his property in Southern California and I always asked about it from my mid 20's till now at 44. He finally called and said come and get it. Yippie! I know am the owner of a 1962 14' Forester ham can. When I picked it up, I repacked the bearings, mounted new tires, and crossed my fingers for the 635 mile trip home to Northern California. And she's home and safe. Towed amazing and was quiet pleased. Did some small clean up last night and yes she will need some love. She has some water damage and I'm sure some rot. I have plans to do some temporary repairs, so I can use it this season. Then I plan to do a full tear down resto with some added modern day amenities. Heater, water heater, pressurized water, and updated lighting. But for now, I will be reading ALOT of posts for some amazing information. Hope to see some of you out and about. Josh flic.kr/p/Rt2pRy

Welcome! Nice camper. Any photos of the inside to share? I also have a 62 Forester. The front side window is different. This is mine before the recent restoration work started.

It looks like a slightly smaller version of my camper. I wish I had your ice box.
It's a great camper. An excellent restoration candidate.

I like the availability of at least one gas light. Off grid, they are priceless. No worry about battery power.
Had to laugh when you said Forester. NC and I have been commiserating about trailers built by boat builders. It takes 3 times as long to take them apart. Trust me on that...They still have rot but getting to it can be dicey.
Welcome to VTT.

Welcome to the forum 62. If You remove those gas lamps You can just send them to Me. I`ll even pay the postage. LOL As vokx said, keep at least one of them and send the other to Me. I think that is what She said. LOL Okay, probably not an option. My camper does not have a gas lamp. After the main shock of the siding and roofing I orederd is over, i will be getting a new gas lamp and installing it somewhere out of harms way, where a person would not be bumping into it with their{my} head. LOL Nice camper too.

Welcome to the nuthouse on wheels.
Camper looks solid, suppose California weather is nicer than Ohio when it comes to keeping them in good shape.
When you're done with the crawler and camper, you need to fetch that 55ish Ford for a tow vehicle.

When you're done with the crawler and camper, you need to fetch that 55ish Ford for a tow vehicle. That would make a real nice combination. Set the old Ford up with the side oiler 427, 2 four barrels and have a real puller. LOL

I've been looking for a 50-54 Chevy pickup to build after the can is redone. Thinking a paint matched stripe on the trailer to match the color on the pickup. But I have to focus on 1 project at a time. I learned, in my early 20's, that more than 1 project is trouble for me LOL
