A word of warning: The other evening we were on our way home and came up on an old trailer with red glass tail light lens about 100 feet back we couldn't see the lights and there were no reflectors if my headlights hadn't picked up the actual trailer we might have hit it. When we got about 25 or 30 feet from the trailer the lights looked OK. I realize a lot of us want to keep the original look but consider what might happen on the Interstate when you are motoring along at 60 mph and a sleepy semi driver comes up on you at 75 mph and he doesn't see those dim lights. For yours and your family's safety get back a couple of hundred feet and see how well your lights show up in the dark. If they don't you might consider adding some in additional lighting or at least some very good reflectors. This can be done with clamp on or magnetic lights if you are trying to keep your trailer original. I realize some of our lights are OK but some are not please take a minute some night and check yours. Another place we can add extra light is with a decorative led lighted license plate frame or or a light strip on the bumper, use you creative genius.

Good point bigbill... maybe even some innocuous (in the daylight) reflective tape on the bumper. But let's not encourage the blue neon under-fender stuff the rolling boom boxes sport these days. I'd rather wear an agricultural orange triangle... OK, so we live in farm land here.

Yes I'm not into neon either, I was thinking more like the red light strips you see on some P/Us under the tailgate. But I would rather see any type of light than to see someone hurt or there trailer destroyed because it couldn't be seen. Many old cars suffer the same problem. I have a friend who complains all the time about how many times he has almost been hit, but he won't change his tail/brake lights. Those old lights were fine when people only drove 35 mph but in todays world we are used to bright well marked vehicles.

"Those old lights were fine when people only drove 35 mph but in todays world we are used to bright well marked vehicles." In today's world you need body armour.
