I need a potty! (at least) I'm trying to figure out the best place to hide a porta potty. I thought about trying to fit it into the bottom of the small closet over the wheel well. I've seen posts of people who have put it on slides to come out under the bed. I could do that now, but in a few years it might be a little low. Any ideas? Examples Pics would be great! Here's the closet. sept913 011 by Corvett crzy, on Flickr

I can not find the pic now but there was a small late 30's camper that had a slide out porta-pottie that slid out from the end of the curb side dinette seat base into the space directly in front of the entry door...no privacy, but great use of the space under the curb side banquette. I will continue to search for the photo. Woo Hoo!! I remembered it was a 1937 Halsco camper check out these photos. www.allmanufacturedhomes.com/html/html/1937_halsco_land_yacht.htm

I don't think you'd find a potty that would fit in the closet with the wheel well. I've found the smallest I could and we are putting it on a pull out under the bed. I saw this picture online and thought it would work for us but our stove is too big: 00101_j8dvp5sBuUO_1200x900So we're creating the same kind of thing only under the bed, which we have to raise to fit the potty under.

Dang I thought you'd found me a better place for ours. This is the smallest I can find that also has good ratings: Product Dimensions: 15.1 x 13.5 x 12.1 inches ; 9.2 pounds The drawer Sam is making for it is an extra inch wide and long so you can use those measurements to see if one would fit where you want it (but remember you have to fit there also, I almost forgot about that until Sam asked where my bum was gonna go).

I have two vintage potty tables similar to this one, that yes, have the honey pot and I have placed one in the standard closet of my Shasta Compact. It fits fine and sits fine in the closet. You might find one that you can trim the legs off of and fit in the wheel well closet. Or take the top off and modify it into a slide out similar to the Halsco pic. img0.etsystatic.com/004/0/5138857/il_fullxfull.357988646_ql8v.jpgMy most basic one with honey pot cost $55 and the nicer oak one with the honey pot, very much like the photo cost me $75 at local antique shops.

I just have to tease you a little more about the honey pot. I didn't realize that your forum username was so true to you that you are vintage enough to use honey pots . I love you Bruce, you bring me some fun stuff.

msgoehring Do you happen to remember the height of the your porta potty? Thanks for the pic as well, may have to look at the under the sink. I want to keep a fridge/ice box. Also trying to remind myself I do need some storage space.
vintagebruce I had actually been thinking of putting a small riser under my dinette. I've seen it done before, as it also is in your link, not only would it give me more space for a potty but a space to run electrical and the like. Thanks so much for the suggestion and pic. I've also been wondering if I could utilize the space forward of the wheel well in the closet for a homemade black waste tank with a drain in the floor. Of course I have no idea how to make a tank but it would be a perfect funnel shape.
Do you think having the black tank in the closet would make the whole thing a "honey" closet, if you will?
We're not planning on putting in the 3/4 bed. A trailer that we had when I was a kid had a "couch", with a double plywood layer and you pulled the top layer out then the two pieces made the bed. Does anyone know what that type of couch/bed is called? Anyway, so the potty would only be available with it in couch mode and I'm primarily concerned about night time.

Buy a porta potti you like and make a added cover to match the dinette seats. Like a hassock.. Hidden in the day, available at night. Most trailers are not as tight as a Corvette...
Store it under the table. Everybody has to pee in the night...

Store it under the table. Everybody has to pee in the night... My best friend has a VW conversion van. She made one out of a cat litter bucket. I'm not sure what kind of frame it has around it but it has a home made toilet type seat and the lid is a padded bench type seat. She uses it in her van and it becomes an extra seat around the campfire when not being used as a potty. It has a very pretty fabric cover. I've never thought to take a picture of it!

I have an Oasis which is bigger but I have it in a slide out under the stove exactly like the photo that msgoehring posted above. Works great.
