I like the visor/yellow lens for a porch light, just one. Keep in mind you'll have a switch inside. Also, look at which way the door swings and place the porch light in the clear.

I keep thinking about a porch light, but I cant decide. The one with the visor might help deflect more the light in the direction you would want.

VTS has the reproduction Spartan porch light and a reproduction (I believe) Airstream porch light that is the chrome eyelid(I call it) with the recessed light bulb...very art disco-ish imo. They are a bit pricey, but timeless in appearance. As mentioned in the description for the Airstream item, the light is directed downward not mostly toward your neighbor's campsite, since the light is behind the chrome piece itself. What you illustrated in the initial post thread, are running lights. Sure you can "point" them downward and the ones with covers might shed a bit of rain, but they are still directing the light (mostly) outward, not downward. Porch lights were made, imo, to direct some light near the keyhole of your door lock. Position one of the reproductions so that your key hole as well as handle are best illuminated. The originals show up on ebay fairly frequently. www.vintagetrailersupply.com/Spartan-Porch-Light-p/vts-487.htmwww.vintagetrailersupply.com/1950s-Porch-Light-p/vts-948.htm

After much, much research on porch lights, including several that I bought and then felt they were too much like house lights . I ended up with a 1950's glass and chrome interior headliner light from a Nash Rambler. It has the shape I like, doesn't throw too much light, and goes with the starburst theme throughout the trailer. I may have a metal eyebrow made for it that diffuses it downward, but I also have a light up handle so it is more for having a dim light for if we pull in at night etc. Here are a couple of photos.

This one: That should make a pretty cool porch light...tho I like more indirect lighting myself...

They are very cool vintagebruce . I was watching a film about the Pismo beach rally with all of the wow factor trailers. One guy who they interviewed said: "I didn't keep track of how much it cost, or how long I took to do it. It was something I wanted to accomplish in my life and be proud of, so I just did it exactly the way I wanted, one piece at a time." That comment was my permission to go for it! lol
