Hello! We just purchased this camper last week. We were looking for a camper to use for our family and I had been drooling over vintage campers for the past few years. This was for sale in the next town over. After reading around here...I'm hoping that we haven't bitten off more than we can chew! We will be certain to look at the videos recommended and do plenty of research before diving in. Please give me any insight based on the pics that you can.

Someone here already helped me figure out that the Windows are not original and I knew that the wings were wrong and needed to be replaced.

I rehabbed my Shasta light and made a cool shade for it out of a thrift store lampshade. I still have a pattern I can share if you want to do that to yours.

Britt, it's not too bad! You'll need to lift the front and rear skins to get at edge rot and at least the lower sides, but there's a lot of pretty wood inside..
Take your time and read a lot. Watch Mobiltec's videos and ask questions.

Watch Mobiltec's videos and ask questions. Thanks ! I will definitely do that. My husband was thinking that all of the wood needed to be replaced on the ceiling and walls. You don't think so? He is a finish carpenter that spent years working on multi million dollar yachts so he tends to overdo things...lol. I have to talk him down sometimes.

I think some of the interior wood can be saved. It's beautiful. Most of us are having a lot of trouble finding decent plywood to follow the ceiling curves so save what you can... see if your husband can find 1/8 ply with beautiful grain and NOT from China.
The thing is, you have to remove the side skins to access the skirt boards and sills. There's no way to repair these foundation boards from the inside. To remove the side skins, the front and rear skins need to be detached.
It doesn't have to be done tomorrow.

Welcome to the madness. A trailer is just a hole in the asphalt that you throw money into... LOL I stole that from the boat owners... Mostly it's elbow grease in this hobby. Although a little money will be spent as well depending on what your needs are. And you can spread this project out over time. I have hundreds of videos you can watch to see how these trailers are taken apart and put back together again. Vikx' book is also a must have. You can check out my vids on my website. www.cannedhamtrailers.comHappy Trailering...
