Well, its been a while but I got to go camping last week and used the awning for the first time. I like how it finishes off the camper and compilments it's. Here's a picture. That's a friend in the picture.

Thank everybody for the nice words. Marty; yes, I call it my camping box. My camper had the step missing when I got it so this is what I came up with. I been trying to make set-up as quick and easy as possible; so, this box holds my jack stands, door rug, and my awning all in this one box that also doubles as a nice wide step for the camper. In the last camper we had we had just a small step and it turned over on my wife coming out of the camper and it came close to killing my wife when she hit the back of her head right at the base of her skull!! It's really nice to have the big box for the support coming out of the camper.

The safety of getting "in and out" of these campers is a BIG DEAL. My wife recently broke her foot falling out of our trailer at the Mission Bay Campland rally. She tripped on the threshold while exiting the trailer, while holding two pots in her hands.
I'm currently in the process of designing, and fabricating a safety "hand rail" that will be an aid for using the steps. It will be quick release for transportation and storage. It will attach to the existing vintage step lip, and use the trailer weight to hold it stationary. It will be mandrel bent, and welded from 1 3/8" chrome moly tubing, and be finished in powder coating. It will be completed for the Pismo Rally, and I will try to get some photos for someone to post for reference.
As we get older, we are not as agile, and need to "plan ahead".
Sorry for getting "off topic".
