I always have to post my cheap-o ideas just to get them out of my head and get talked some sense. I have half a tub of roberts 2057 VCT adhesive I don't need and a sheet of laminate for my counters coming this week. How different could VCT and laminate glue really be?

Laminate uses contact cement. You paint each surface and let it dry. The laminate is then eased into place and rolled. There is little danger of lumps and bumps with contact cement.
Honestly, I don't know how another glue would work. I suppose if it was smoothed properly, maybe. I would ask at the local flooring/counter top supply why/why not. Please share any ideas!

I emailed Roberts. They said VCT adhesive was designed to allow the tiles to move so doesn't have the bonding power of a contact cement. I guess that's why some have problems with movement in their trailer floors.

Thanks Dan. Didn't think it was the perfect solution.

Thanks Dan. Didn't think it was the perfect solution. Cheap and perfect rarely intersect, but I like to try and keep the balance.
