I have found a 1957 (I think) Shasta 1600 for $500, mostly solid but the water closet is right in front of the entry door next to the dinette. If In get this trailer That would have to go which means a total reconfiguration of the interior. Any thoughts? james

Welcome!
"...which means a total reconfiguration"
Why total? Why not repair and leave it in place?
Do you have any photos to share?

I will post some pics in a few days. The range is next to the rear bed and the "bathroom" is next to the kitchen table. Seems backwards to me. I can't find an image of this floor plan. This trailer has been sitting since '92

Welcome James!
Sounds like a Deluxe to me. Unfortunately, gutting and reconfiguring can cause structural issues in these larger Shastas. The cabinets lend a lot of support to the ceiling and are strategically placed.
We are looking forward to your photos.

Photos almost seem a must here, because a year or two difference and a model difference may make a world of difference in the advice for the remodel. Besides, we are a bunch of voyeurs here....
Can't wait to see, as I am a big fan of the older Shastas.
