I'm beginning my kitchen sink and plumbing redo.....and I have zero plumbing expertise, experience or knowledge to build on. Aside from knowing how to turn water on and off....I'm stumped. I have removed the 10 gallon stainless steel fresh water tank as well as the kitchen sink and plumbing hook-up (water pump and single faucet system). The original sink had a crack in the bottom. I took all of the pieces plus pictures of the setup prior to dismantling it to the local and best hardware store in town ( in hope of reconstructing the system) and the guys looked at me like I had two heads. I'm only interested in getting water from the fresh water tank over to my sink via my new Rocket hand pump OR accessing city water via the single faucet when a hookup is available. I have opted for a Thetford in the bathroom, so no need to route water anywhere but the kitchen. I honestly need an A, B, C or Plumbing for Dummy's Book. I am willing to try this myself but none of the pieces I bought came with directions and I'm simply lost. I thought that I bought the correct size water tank with the input hole matching up with the hole on my '69 Scotty....but NO. Can I drill a new hole and patch up the original one. Any suggestions? Anyone? I'm happy to buy a book to it anyone knows of a very basic one . Thanks in advance

I should add that I have searched the Scotty blogs as well as the Original Scotty Manual for my 1969 model. The suggestion to stow a couple of 2.5 gallon water containers under the sink is looking very appealing. Perhaps I can sink the hose that is hanging down from my Rocket hand pump (mounted on my sink) into the cap of one of the 2.5 gallon water containers, add some sort of rubberized seal and use that instead. When one water jug is empty I could replace the empty jug with a full container. Is a contraption like that even do-able? Are they already out there or did I just come up with something new? I understand that having a fresh water tank is nice for resale but I'm willing to think about adding that in the future.

A few photos of the plumbing system I just simplified. I took an idea from vikx and ran the hand pump to a water bottle under the sink instead of to a large tank. flex tube replaces copper to the hand pump: it snakes to wherever you want your jug. to the left, a standard water line with pressure coupler on each end for the municipal water. that line connect to a copper fitting that connect to the hose under the camper. There are a lot of variations on this simple system. I may do a 20 gallon tank at some point but my concern is the water gets foul, fast. Family members maintain their tank system the old school way...bleach to kill bacteria anti-freeze in the winter. My wife is too granola for that system. By the way, vikx is writing a book on camper systems. The vikx digital book on general repairs is a must-have. Also, videos at cannedhamtrailers.com are a fantastic resource.

Thank you ...... Sincerely appreciated.!! I think I can handle this! I will also go and hunt down Vikx's digi book. I looked at my plumbing stuff all day, while working on trim work. Your pictures are clear and the details are easy to see. I can't wait to get at it tomorrow.

I would suggest hooking up the hose before reinstalling the hand pump. It's much easier. Also, test it. You can get the fitting, hose and clamp at any Lowes or Home Depot. Bring this photo and the hand pump and they will make sure the pieces fit. Don't forget tephlon tape or thread sealer for the threads. Very cheap. If it doesn't pull water up through the pump you will have to unscrew the bottom and tap the ball loose. It often gets stuck if it sits unused for a long time. Hopefully this all makes sense.
