Hi! I've checked out this forum for a while and finally decided to join. I don't have my little camper yet, but THE ONE is close, I can feel it! LOL
I've been searching for the past couple of years for a little vintage (or at least not so modern-looking) trailer, and I've got a couple of irons in the fire. I've researched and stalked the fiberglass eggs, airstreams, canned hams, pop-ups, diy builds, you name it! A few gems have slipped through my fingers because they were a little too far away and I was beat to it, or some other intervention...
Anyhow, glad to be here and I'm looking forward to learning a lot from you all, as I already have. I'm sure it will be a non-stop learning experience once I finally get my hands on one!
By the way, anyone here ever hear of a Sprouter? Came across a 1978 Sprouter for sale that I'm going to be looking at this week, hopefully. Looks to be in the Shasta/ Forester vein, but I can't find anything on it.
Nice to meet you all!

Welcome!
A 1978 Sprouter is new to me. I'm a big fan of 55-62 and don't know much about the 70s. I'm sure others will chime in.
Good luck with the hunt.

to VTT. Your Sprouter looks like it would fall into the next gen (after canned hams) vintage category. Polish up on inspection skills and go armed with your ice pick. Use any discrepancy you discover to get a better OBO offer on the table. Ask for documentation on "refreshed" items. Good Luck! houston.craigslist.org/rvs/5565486128.html

Thanks for the warm welcome, all!
That's the ad that first caught my eye, vintagebruce! I'll be armed for sure. Pics and updates to come if I end up biting on this one.

I'm in Houston, and I found it hard to find a trailer, for a decent price, that was within 500 miles of here. If it's much further away, the travel expenses add another couple thousand to the purchase price.Things seem to be higher priced in the south too. ?? I found lots of cool trailers way up north for just a few hundred, but then they were always, like, 800 miles away or more. I finally found a Silver Streak in Oklahoma City for $4000 and even though that was a bit high, travel was cheap and it was a nice well built trailer. The interior was shot but that's what I wanted because I wanted to completely redo one. A number of really cool trailers got bought before I could get a call through. One guy made a deal with me but got a better offer, he said, and wanted me to bid against it. I told him to sell it. Just a side note, by the 70's the interior materials were getting pretty cheap, and unless it's really in good shape you'll have to replace all of the wood, as none of that stuff is still available, in most cases.(I'm talking about the plywood with the picture of wood on it) OR paint maybe? Not my favorite approach. Keep looking, something will come along, good luck. Wayne
