Just bought 1972 Shasta. Need exterior door handle or possibly new door. frig is not original. Doesn't really fit in the space. Has some dents in the front exterior. Looks like a previous jackknife situation. Cute inside. Pretty much original except for cushions and floor. Would like to know good resource for parts and help with some restoration.

Long story short, watch every single restoration video on YouTube by Mobiltec. They are outstanding, and will probably answer many of your questions.
Congratulations and like they say, "photos or it didn't happen".

You are in good company here. There are a few of us that have spent some time with some early-70's Shastas. Door-rebuilds are a fairly easy project on the list. There is not a lot to them if you have all of the aluminum parts. The handles are a little tougher to come by, but patience can be a virtue. The do come up from time to time. The largest problem is always the lever on the outside. They tend to be broken off and there are far-and-few-between replacements. The original refrigerator would have been a Instamatic propane/electric model -- vintagetrailertalk.freeforums.net/thread/369/instamatic-refrigerator-manual?page=1&scrollTo=2554in most of the Shastas of the era. There are some suitable replacements, but you may not ever truly fit the space exactly. But a little modification can make a world of difference. There are several places to find parts and pieces. A couple faves are vintagetrailersupply.com , vintagecampers.com , as well as several present day RV supply places. Browse the sites and if you need more places to look, ask away. There is a lot of experience on this board with rebuilding and locating parts. Welcome to the asylum!
