There is a trailer on eBay.. gorgeous for sure. It says it is all original. It is a Yellowstone. But it has exact Shasta wings. Is this correct? I thought only Shastas had wings... Just wondering..

Yellowstones do not have wings... Can't imagine the seller doesn't know this.

Still looks cool to me! Just as a sidenote, really enjoyed seeing the many up close photos of this beautiful unit. It is extremely upsetting to see such a crisp clean and unblemished classic, and it not be mine! Very well done restoration or very commendable up keep and maintenance.

Because of this guy, some poor Shasta out there can't fly. Interesting trailer, although I suspect his reserve is in the 15k range. Was Yellowstone still doing birch in '66 when most everyone else had gone cheaper? Despite the long list of amenities, a lot didn't get said about the provenance which would have answered some of my questions. He seems to be saying its original, but goes on to talk about new wiring and plumbing. There isn't a ding in the aluminum that I can see, although the break pattern looks original. My only question is, why, when a trailer has been as carefully redone or taken care of as this, do the wheels look like the only part that isn't pristine? Just sayin.

I messaged the seller about the originality of the wings. He replied "Just a cool touch."
I would seriously question someone who says 'nothing is being hidden or left out', while stating that the trailer they are selling 'is a ORIGINAL TIME CAPSULE', yet fails to mention that they added NON-ORIGINAL wings. SMH

I believe Hamlet is probably right about the reserve target, since I found this ebay ad stating shortipie sold it (in Morriston Fl.) on April 11th for $11,500. Note the seller's name in this thread (shortiepie) and the seller's name in the new ad (scappinbook) and the location as Port St. Lucie, Fl...Is it possible I hear the sound of a frantic fish out of water flipping and flopping about. Good luck at trying to get more than $11.5K... www.ebay.com/itm/1968-Yellowstone-Vintage-Travel-trailer-Camper-Canned-Ham-/152048524219Since the question did Yellowstones have wings has been answered, the only other question about 1968's having birch interiors might be answered by this pinterest site showing a 1970 Yellowstone. I can't get into it very much, since I am one of only 3 human beings refusing to sign up for Pinterest for the privilege of being tracked 24/7 (and no I do not have a smart phone for the same reason), but before being frozen out, it looked like maybe the '70 also has mostly birch looking insides. You Pinteresters be the judge.

I dont get why people have to be so selfish. If you are that greedy then just keep the stupid thing. Its a beautiful piece.

IMO, $11.5 won't buy anything contemporary that is nicer than this one. Maybe a few more bells and whistles but not wrapped in nearly as attractive skin, plus no new anything has wings. Come to think of it, it is possible no other older Yellowstones have wings either. But I know of a model of vintage Serro Scotty that has winglettes! The 1961 Scotty Sportsman 13... www.nationalserroscotty.org/resources/img/wings.jpg

I see some things I don't like, especially for so much $.
Goopy roof, someone spray painted over the rust on the frame underneath, screws have been tightened on trim to the point of distorting the metal. The interior lights don't look right to me, same with backsplash behind stove. By 1968 most manufacturers were making campers with less emphasis on aesthetics,(meaning cheaper). These fancy details don't jibe.It is a nice looking camper though.

yes i saw the same things.when i looked at all the photos of the windows it concerned me. i think the windows where taken out when it was painted and put back in without putty tape and the screws tightened to distort the mounting flanges.the reason i think they where taken out because i dont see any evidence that they where masked off unless they had perfect masking job, unlikely!!!!!

My bad vikx for not doing a better job saying the Pinterest site of Heather Swindel has a 1970 similar styled Yellowstone in some of her pins that seems to indicate that in 1970 Yellowstone was still producing campers with a predominant "birchy" looking interior. Shortipie apparently sold the winged Yellowstone to scappinbook, who appears to be trying for a quick flip. Heather is just gaga over Yellowstones...

It has that goofy backwards gimp? With all the attention to detail there are no hub caps and the glass seal on the little push outs needs replacing. I do like the wings though LOL...
