Yes, I can actually comment on seeing my first old Shasta besides mine, and took forever for me to research that it was around a 1965 Starflyte, one of the few models that had a curving out rear wall at the bottom with a baggage door. At least I dont recall to many like that made by Shasta. Caught the owner, in his 70s I would guess, and asked him about it. He said he has had it a long time and that he uses it as a storage unit. So sad.. This thing looked unblemished and original with the wings still even. Straight skin and decent, original paint. He said he has had many wanting to buy it. The wife and I have seen many old trailers as we arrived in the southern Smokies of NC, and even had a few comments on our own trailer on our way up. Its just cool to see one in person because we never have where we live. Give this guy enough, and he may budge. Who knows. Will try to get pics, will pass it many times!

Nice find Rich. That's how I do it. The 47 Trotwood was a trailer I had been passing for the last 30 years. Since 1979 I guess. I and my friend Bob had both stopped in and checked with the little old lady who owned it. She used it for storage too. One day Bob was driving by and saw the sheriffs stapling signs on the trailer so he stopped by to see what was going on. They said the old lady had died and the daughter was cleaning the property out and the trailer needed to go. $50 later we were putting new tires on it and towing it home. I waited 5 years for the 54 Lakewood and towed that home last spring.

What a large degree of patience Larry! Thats amazing waiting that long but seems to be the vest and cheapest way to get a diamond in the rough. It's painful to hesr any trailer being used for storage.

I see very old vintage trailers everywhere I go. So I stop and check on them when I have time and every once in a while I win. You can't win if you don't play. The more you play, the better chance you have to win. The only trailer I ever got off of Craig's List was free. I was first to call. 64 Shasta with only one little problem. Roof damage from a heavy snow load. But it didn't leak... We replaced the roof in just a couple days.
