Hello All!!
I have about an 1/8" gap between the subfloor and the wheel wells in my trailer. Completely open to the outside. What is the preferred method for sealing this up from moisture and critters? Originally, they just laid the vinyl flooring over the gap.
Thanks!!

I used a petroleum based sealant that never hardens so if there is flex or the wood expands or ahrinks I dont have to worry about cracking. It was some kind of roof/gutter sealant super sticky but flexible also the oil base repels water Thats Just what I did.

Expanding foam would probably work well too. That's what I used where the propane lines come up through the floor.

I'd first poke around to make sure the gap isn't actually rotten wood that needs repaired.

I agree with NCcamper. A wheel well should NOT have gaps. They are tight to the floor or underneath, depending on construction type. I would do some serious looking before adding any sealant.

Mine mounted from below, so I used putty tape, then gooped the gap inside with gutter seal.

Is the gap a space between the wheel well and the overlapping floor (a gap because of a difference in height of two layers), or a gap where the floor isn't wide enough to reach the wheel wells (that you can see straight down through)?

Sorry I have not been on lately. Upon further inspection, the gap is not actually an open gap to below but just a gap where the plywood flooring does not go all the way up to the metal - the wood is solid all around the wheel well. I don't think it is any reason for concern after looking at it more closely - sorry for the false alarm :-) I am a newbie!!!
