Hello, my name is Joe I am new to this site. I came across it via link on the "Canned Ham Trailers" site. I am in the research and search phase of vintage trailer rehabbing. Recently retired I am looking for a project and am so happy I was able to come across great info prior to my endeavor. I look forward to absorbing any and all advice I can. This project may be months or years away but at least I'm off to an informed start with good resources at my disposal.

Welcome! Collectively we possess a wealth of trailer, and other, knowledge. And to purloin shamelessly from Garrisoon Keillor..."the women are strong, the men are good looking and the children are above average."

Welcome Joe. You're in the right place. I wish you luck on your search and in the mean time you can peruse these pages for endless information. We never seem to stop learning here. And just about the time we figure we've seen it all, someone on Craig's List proves us wrong...

I see you are also from Washington, keep an eye out for a Shasta that needs some TLC for me. I need a project and the Shasta is the trailer that draws me in. Thanks!

I have a 64 SCS that needs a ton of TLC. Most parts go with, no wings. PO gutted it. North of Seattle. You can PM me for more info... AND NO, THAT'S NOT MY PLACE...

Welcome jehle. This is a great place to find lots of brilliant advice based on years of experience. Just a little warning though, getting into vintage trailers is like the Hotel California - a wonderful place where you can check out but you can never leave. Just saying.

to VTT. You are off to a good start by commenting that you will possibly be a while before you purchase. The more information you can absorb before you buy, the better prepared you are to really like that first camper. One thing to keep in mind is how many people will be using the camper. I suggest becoming familiar with all the different smaller campers first if you are buying for solo or a couple camping. Look at up to 16' for up to a family of four. The smaller you go, the easier it will be to tow (usually) and hopefully a bit less expensive to rebuild. Should get better gas mileage too. It is hard not to like the canned Ham Shasta Compact, but depending on how tall the camper(s) will be, there are other brands of small camper "almost" as cute. Good Luck and Happy Hunting.
