I would have used the word animadvert instead of opined... Hee hee! That's the first time I've seen a spell check choose the word opine for option.

Thank you for the welcome and don't misunderstand I LOVE seeing the restores. I just know it is beyond my capabilities. Sheila Well believe it or no Sheila I love seeing the new retros that are coming out as well. I actually have this evil little side of me that likes brand spanking new things also. I actually owned a 33 foot Coachmen with slide out and electric tongue jack and everything. Sometimes you just want to go camping in style and comfort. And most of the time I do my camping in a tent LOL... I hate towing. I'd like to see some photos of you camping with the new trailer.

Sheilam, please show us some pictures of your new/old trailer. Exciting!
Building from scratch would be fun, but on our scale, more expensive that starting from old. Sort of like building a bicycle from parts, you don't get the same price for components so it ends up being expensive. My bike costs more that some of these old trailers.

I will for sure have pics of me camping with it and as soon as I figure out how to post pics I'll show her to you now. I ordered it with no refrig or sink or a/c and I use a porta potty for nighttime. I do not want to deal with the added weight or propane for hot water. As I said I'm new to camping, in my senior years and I want it as easy as possible to deal with. I will get a small dorm fridge to put up on the counter, not under the counter so that it is up where I can more easily reach it. She is a little beauty. My son brought his camper over and he and my granddaughter had a driveway campout. Can't wait to really take her out. In the meantime I've been decorating the inside.

It is interesting that the jalousie windows by ch have come up just as sheliam has introduced some of us to their reproduction business. I would much rather see ch do a retro purpose build of a popular canned ham model than see an original canned ham with good bones be turned into a commercial trailer, or destroyed by a rebuild dreamer with no ability to pull it off, except the gutting it part. I also agree if you have the discretionary funds to have exactly what you want built in a vintage shape, it works very well for some enthusiasts. I especially like their repro of the Shasta Compact styling. www.chcamper.com/www.chcamper.com/products/canned-ham-jr-camper

I think the exteriors look FABULOUS but I'm not so impressed with the interiors. What is that?

sheilam , it's really cute. Do you have pics of your interior? It does make me a little sad that they are such carbon copy of our little Shasta Compacts on the outside. They could easily be mistaken for our vintage trailers. I remember seeing two of these trailers in a St. Jude's benefit raffle a year or so ago.

I do but I have to transfer them to photo bucket. It has red and white cushions and a red table in the center to make into a bed and a red counter top and white cubbies over top of the counter. I've removed the table and I am going to change the bed setup to be a couch in the day time. I also painted the trim around the cubbies red. Stenciled heart wreaths over the door with my husbands name in the middle. The campers name is 'Marty' after my recently deceased husband.

I'm sure you will enjoy it and I know there is a feeling of security knowing that you have purchased something brand new rather than vintage. Vintage is not always the way to go, especially for those who don't do their own restoration and maintenance. They are cranky little things. There is a woman who travels in a pink T@B. She and her husband were on a trip when he became ill and died. She then glamped up her T@B, painted it pink because he told her to, and set out traveling the country. She found great comfort in her travels. I hope your trailer brings you comfort, too. Here is a link to a story about her. www.goodnewsnetwork.org/love-never-dies-for-widow-touring-country-in-pink/

Welcome sheilam. I'm one of those nuts who wants a project more than a camper. I buy a 55 year old camper and turn it into my life's work for several months then sell it and make $1 an hour so I can have room for the next one. As I mentioned privately to a member recently, more people should consider a reproduction if they don't want to make working on it a full time obsession. Personalizing it to glamper-it-up is a smart idea. I don't understand people who buy campers because they want to go camping, you'll have to explain the concept to me.

I can spot a Glamper miles away. It's a gift.
There are some people here who bring a truck load of Glamp-accessories everywhere they camp.
Please don't tell me you put a mailbox on your camper? Pink Flamingos? A thousand Christmas lights in July?
