Hi Friends, I am looking for the appropriate sized tire for a 66 Scotsman. The rims are 5 hole 14". The tires currently on it are 205/75 R14 which seems a bit big, but I could be wrong? Anyone got any ideas? Image below shows the tires and wheels that came with the trailer. Thanks, Rod

Same size as my '69 Scotty. SusieQ mentioned finding 200/75 R14 LT might be what came originally although not branded LT back in the day. Makes sense to me as 205s are really hard to get off/on Scotty because they are too fat.

I had the same issue on a Shasta. Bias Ply are a little thinner.

Thanks fellas,
The 200 size appears to be hard to come by.
Looks like I am going with the 205's

BTW, I got lucky when I picked up the Scotsman. An earlier telephone conversation with the PO indicated the same tire size as my Westerner, but just different rim sizes. The wheels on it were 14" rims and tire size 205/75. I brought with me my wheels off of my Westerner which are 15" rims which are 205/75. I was able to squeeze them into the wheel well without deflation.
When I swapped out the old wheels, I raised the Scotsman under the frame just aft of each wheel instead of under the axle. This is a fabulous tip I picked up from this forum. This made things better. I had no problem with a fully inflated tire on the curbside, but on the street side, I had to finesse the tire and then found the magic angle to get it underneath and into the wheel well - I had to angle the tire as if turning a the front tires on a car to the left. Then, inside the wheel well and then up.
If the 14" rim has a bigger bulge than the 15" rim, then I most likely will have to go with deflation upon mounting or search for bias ply. I will report back.
Cheers,
Rod
