Working on rehabbing my interior. Anyone have any unique ideas for making the cabinets more useful? I added some shelves to the closet and need to fabricate a lot of doors for the other cabinets with broken slider tracks.

If you really want to learn about wise usage of space, talk to a sail boat owner who sails the world. Check out their forums. They can't just get off the freeway at the next off ramp to pick up supplies.

He probably gutted the inside a dozen times before he got it just the way he wanted... By then he was too old to sail and sold it...

In my younger years I helped my father completely restore a Rhodes 55 foot yawl which we sailed up and down the west coast. I also crewed on a 30 foot Sloop and helped build a 43 foot cat which is now sailing the world. Believe me. These people know their storage.

My space saving measures: I measured my cabinets and went Target. I bought large plastic storage containers that fit the width and depth well. Then I added shelving spaced appropriately. In the tall wardrobe in our '61 Shasta, we fit 3 containers, with space for a portable BBQ left over at the bottom and shoes at the top. Each person gets one container for clothes, in between trips they live in the attic. We pack the boxes in the house, then put them in the trailer and use them like drawers. Compression stuff sack, like for backpacking with a down sleeping bag, for dirty laundry. Spring leaf containers. Like this: www.amazon.com/Fiskars-Gallon-Kangaroo-Gardening-94056949/dp/B00004SD7D/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1451878534&sr=8-2&keywords=leaf+container they come in different sizes, we have a small one for inside the trailer, and a larger one for outside. My step is a wooden box. When not in use, it fits my stabilizer jacks and wheel chocks perfectly. Cut a cover for the sink. Adds about 30% counter space when the sink isn't in use. I like Mobiltecs idea about boat galleys. Lot's of reading here: theboatgalley.com/outfitting/

I sailed on a 52' ketch out of the Balboa Yacht Club in Panama, and it had all the great storage places you would expect on a blue water sailboat, but whenever we got to port and bought new perishable provisions that did not need refrigerated, they had net "baskets" kind of like mini-hammocks slung under the galley cabinets. I saw a number of sailboats that used the netting to store clothes, towels, sandals and other items that were in use almost every day. Some might say that is gaudy, but if you are using your camper for it's intended purpose, instead of a glamour palace on wheels, you might consider this idea.

In general, do you guys add shelving, etc to the closet, and under the sink? I'm not sure the original configuration of my closet as the PO added some junky bins, so I winged it with some shelves.

I've added shelves where there were none. I make sure to put a lip on the front so the contents don't push the door open. That's why I like pinch latches or any latches that keep the doors closed. But you still don't want the contents bumping up against the doors. Corner shelving is neat but most people just use those for nick knacks. A drawer or two under the bed is better than just a cupboard door there because you can get to the contents easier without laying down on the floor to reach in. Same thing under the dinette seats.

Our kids love PBS P&P too, we call it the long version. Good use of original dialog and good acting. Great for long road trip watching.

Even my hubby and our 32 year old son can quote numerous passages. Love it.

My son (14) correctly answered a PBS question in a trivia game last night with Upstairs, Downstairs, to my surprise!
And so that my reply isn't totally off topic, I will tell you that the one thing I missed in my trailer was the hanging clothes bar which I did not get around to re-installing (all two screws) in my closet. I had to put up a small tension rod to hang jackets on to keep them out of the way.
