Today I was at Home Depot a store I very seldom go in. They have 3/16" Birch plywood just like the photos people have posted on this forum asking, where can I buy Birch paneling like this. Lowe's has 3/16" Birch plywood too but it has a different look to it. Both stores are across the street from each other in Murfreesboro TN. If these stores have it a store near you can order it.
The birch at Lowes has course grain. The birch at Home Depot must have very fine grain I cant see the grain but it does have wavy places in the wood that makes it look nice.
I am in Murfreesboro TN. When I lived in Arizona Lowes and Home Depot had very little wood in stock. No one builds much with wood in AZ, it is to hot and termites are 100 times worse than any place in the USA. When we travel I often check Lowes in other States their geographical location determines what they have in stock. Lots of pressure treated wood near the ocean.

Most folks are looking for 1/8" birch I think. I have used that stuff from Home Depot for small home furniture projects and it seems more like Baltic Birch or other white wood. It has a course grain and I wonder how it would take Amber shellac compared to standard birch.

Some people have managed to bend 1/4" birch around the curve on a canned ham. Not an easy task. The thicker the panel, the more you'll struggle...unless you have a square toaster.

As stated before, stay away from both stores' plywood. It's lousy unless you only want flat panels. If you have curves to bend and need to find 1/8" stuff, the grain pattern won't match. The good stuff is harder to find and is more expensive but you won't be sorry when you get it.
