Hi, kind of a long story.
I belong to a private trailer park outside Guelph, Ont., Canada. I have my own trailer in the park, but a friend of mine recently acquired a site that had a trailer on it. He said he'll give it to me for free if i take it away for him, because he wants to make room for a new trailer (ew - Im 22 and hate new trailers, they all look the same! Old trailers at least had character). I knew the previous owner very well, but i never saw the inside of the trailer. today I was at the park and looked in through the windows, and from what i could see, inside is in pretty good shape. now, the interesting part. about 8 yrs ago, this guy had a problem with carpenter ants. they got in and pretty well ate the wood frame on the whole front of the trailer. this guy took off the siding, took out the window, and rebuilt the whole front skeleton on the trailer, then put back the window, siding, etc. right now its not too pretty on the outside as he used A LOT of white outdoor silicone to seal everyhing, and it needs a good wash. as far as i know, all interior electrical works, propane systems work, it still has the washroom, and sinks, but no grey/black water holding tanks. Tires roll, seem to be in alright condition, and tongue ajck doesnt work. I want to make this trailer my winter project and fix it up to take on the road next summer because its small, and single axle (much easier to safety and register a single axle than dual or tri in ontario). Following is what I would like to do:
- re seal exterior of trailer
- paint exterior in a vintage color scheme/pattern (i really like the way the red/white trailer looks)
- paint rims
- new tires
- new tow lights
- new tongue jack
- install composting toilet
- clean/paint interior
- fix plumbing system from city water connection to kitchen sink, and from fresh water tank to kitchen sink
- install grey water tank for kitchen sink
- im pretty sure its 14' (didnt have a measuring tape with me when i took the pictures)
- its a Rambler
- any thoughts on year? the ID tag was removed. im thinking early-mid 70's
As a 22 yr old with a limited budget, am I in over my head? im not going for a restore, more of a facelift lol pics below
I LOVE THIS PAINT JOB!!!!
any and all comments/suggestions (other paint job ideas lol) greatly appreciated
