Hi all I wanted to share what we are currently going through to possibly help others. It's good to keep in mind if course, like others have stated, that some states title old trailers and others do not. For example, I live in FL and they most certainly do require title. However in Alabama apparently for the size of ours ( 1300 lbs) you actually cannot even get a title even if the old one is signed over because they don't title them, at least not anymore. So then, we can still title our trailer even though theres not one signed over. As long as you can provide the PO's current registration on it. Good to know this.. If your state doesn't know that the state you got the trailer from doesn't even do titles anymore for your size trailer you won't get very far with just the registration. So just be mindful of these things, it's small matters but can become a big mess! Hope I didn't confuse anyone! Maybe you already knew that, I sure didnt.

Thanks for pointing this out again. This is stated in many places all over this site but people still buy trailers without the proper paperwork and this can result in serious costly problems. You could even be arrested for receiving stolen property.

Think how scary it would be if you had spent the time and money to bring one back then found out it had been stolen in another state and they took it back. Then you would know what stupid felt like.

No kidding bigbill that would be terrible. We had a scare like that today. We thought we were stuck till we figured it all out between two state DMVs.. Thankfully the person we got it from was a stand up guy but that's not common these days. Wheew
