Hi Folks. Was just turned on to VTT from someone's comments on reddit. Can't believe I haven't found it before. Looks like a great resource! Especially because I am in the middle of a travel trailer build from scratch.... or sort of... I started with a badly damaged vintage trailer but tore it down. Actually I recently posted an album to imgur of my build up till then. But I have since framed the trailer. I am posting process albums as I go along to reddit, and I will be happy to share here also! For starters though, you can check out the first build album for Acorn, my future home! imgur.com/a/7q75d-daniel

Also Daniel who uses Reddit. Not quite the level of detail as your build, but at least to the same spot as your album (floor). Not sure I understand the crowd funding aspect though, and you sure could have saved a lot of money by not chopping up those skins... I'm guessing you'll find the folks around here generally do this for their own satisfaction and pay for it with their own money, but we're always looking to share something new that we learned... It's impressive the progress you've made without this place, which I find indispensable vintagetrailertalk.freeforums.net/thread/4075/1965 Field and Stream

Welcome over here. Very cool set of photos. I have just had a quick glance so far, and was glad to see this one. Everyone needs a supervisor for such work!

@danrhordes Hey thanks for the comment. i will defintiely look through that thread of your build photos. I was planning on paying for all of this myself, initially, but had some unexpected money problems and figured I'd give the crowdfunding a try. Not sure why that would be frowned upon... Re: the trailer skin, my initial plan was to save it, but after the days of cleaning it out and dismantling it, not only did I discover way more damage to the skin than I had anticipate, I also came to the decision that I wanted to change the layout quite a bit... Window placement and what not. And this being a custom build, it gave me the opportunity to do something unique... The trailer will be clad in cedar bevel siding instead of aluminum. A bit heavier for sure, because you also need sheathing, but its going to have a different look. Obviously I am sticking to the vintage trailer typology though! I have been an enthusiast for quite some time and helped other do some "return to the original condition" renovations in the past.
I'm going to start a thread in the other forum where I will post progress photos as i go along!

I'm going to start a thread in the other forum where I will post progress photos as i go along! Can't wait to see the final result of that siding. Seems like a ham/tiny house mashup. Your frame is definitely beefier than most here, so it can probably support it. Going to be interesting to see how you waterproof those changes of plane and windows/door installs. I also understand the skin thing...I would consider moving my layout around a bit, but the windows don't allow it either. I only mentioned the crowdfunding because I'm old and I don't understand it...are you selling partial ownership of the trailer, or are you just looking for people to give you money? I'm guessing a lot of that money will be going to tools...are you planning to start a trailer rebuild workshop for your supporters to share in their contribution? Would be a pretty cool extension of the tiny house community to have a place to go to build your house, with all the tools and know-how on site.
