Getting ready to wrap my canned ham and saw this product. www.farmtek.com/farm/supplies/prod1;ft_tekfoil_insulation;pg100793_100793.htmlMy trailer was originally wrapped in a foil under the skin because of the plywood construction there is no gap to add standard insulation in the walls. Has anyone used Tekfoil in place of Tyvek on a vintage trailer? It is very near the same thickness and in theory would do the same job as Tyvek with the added bonus of a radiant barrier. Anyone have experience with Tekfoil? Is there a downside I am not seeing? Thanks for any input.

Not sure on this. Maybe do an experiment?
Take a plywood box, install a sample of Tekfoil, add skin and see what humidity/weather/heat does? Maybe a light bulb on the outside, check results, then the bulb on the inside..
This is a hard call because most Ply walls had a thin layer of fiberglass installation before the skin went on.

Aluminum becomes a conductor once it comes into direct contact. I don't think it would have much value in that application except as a vapor barrier and that could be a hazard to the plywood. I have no experience with this product this is just my thoughts without any research. Was the original foil perforated with small pin holes to prevent vapor retention?

Funny timing, I just walked by a shed wrapped in Tyvek and made a mental note to research if there was something other than Tyvek that more closely matches the "Silvercote" insulation that my trailer had. (Got the name from the Sportcraft ad.) So while I can't be of any help, I'll be very interested to see how your experiments/research work out.

Mobiltec used floor insulation rolls in place of Tyvek. I wonder if one is better than the other? I've seen both used.

After some more thought on using Tekfoil I realized the rolls are not wide enough to cover the roof side to side with a single piece so I would need to buy Tyvek for the roof and Tekfoil for the sides. Not really financially feasibility to buy both products so I am going with Tyvek for the whole job.
Thanks for the input.
