While driving to the mountains with my family, we stopped at the Burger King on Exit 13 off GA 400, and some scum of the earth stole one of the wings off my my Shasta Camper.
We parked outside the Burger King and had lunch... at about 13:30 on Friday September 4th, some scumbag walked up to my camper in the parking lot and unscrewed one of the wings on my Shasta 1400 Camper.
If anyone saw this happen or knows of anyone talking about having one wing for a Shasta Camper, please call me ASAP 7 seven 0 -480-0 four 8 five. If you lead me to the person that stole my wing from my camper and that person either returns my property or is arrested, I will pay you $100 cash.
Who steals ONE wing in broad daylight at lunch time on a Friday from a restaurant?
GRRRRR

I'm very sorry to hear of the loss of the loved one.
Some time ago, there was a discussion (perhaps on the old forum?) about ways to secure the wings to the trailer, something that would lock them down better than three Philips screws each. May be a good time to revive that discussion....

This is a real shame.
I believe there is a good reason so many Shasta campers don't have wings. I think in the 60s their owners watched them vanish one by one.
You can bolt them through the wall and use a nut on the inside. But then the thieves will destroy the siding in a temper fit trying to get them off.
I went to St. Croix a few years ago and was given a piece of advice by a local. He said if I was going to the Point to hike, leave my car doors unlocked. The thieves will just break the glass to get in. Better to let them just take what they find without vandalizing the car. I thought about that as I attached my wings.
With that said, it makes me sad that I'm not surprised people do things like this.

I am planning to remove the wings whenever it is stored, and perhaps on general camp trips as well....maybe only put them on for show...either that or rig a chain-mount to the rear bumper and hire a guard....

DRAT. So sorry to hear this. Somebody now has two wings... you might check around for campers that might have an inkling.

Nonsense! What kind of person just decides to walk up to a trailer and take something off of it! I have a 59 Chevy el Camino and my dad trained me never to leave it where I can't watch it, consequently I dint take it out often for that reason. The moldings are really valuable and easily removed. For the shasta wings, can't you use a combo of clutch head and star screws on those things? Nobody carries those screwdrivers around! I'll bet you didn't expect that to happen ever. I'm so sorry, I would be livid! In my experience most opportunistic thieves are all about convenience, if it requires multiple tools, or too much time, they pass, but if something is easily accessible, consider it gone.

A while back, there was one wing for sale on eBay. Maybe whoever bought it has a second one now. I am so sorry this happened to you. I walked around my trailer and made sure I still had both of mine. Engrave your VIN # on the he back so that you can identify wings that are stolen and resurface .

Jeff, maybe we should set up a sting and see if we can catch the thief. I guess mine could be the bait.

When traveling, just try not to leave your camper and tow vehicle in a place you can not see them. Either eat a packed lunch or make lunch in the camper if you can't park in a visible place. Our campers are now a target. Yet another result of the TV shows broadcasting how valuable our parts can be.

I am so sorry that happened to you, yuck! I wonder if they planned to take just the one or were they trying for both and got interrupted? Mine only had one when we bought it and I just assumed that the other fell off at some point....

I hope it isn't, too. But "good condition"? Well the price is right.
