Hi folks, I'm new here this week and moving my posts on over to here since I'm getting into my big restoration. I appreciated the nice welcomes over on the "welcome newbies" board
I also posted a Dropbox link over in that first thread, but will clarify~ I called the thread "my 59 Corvette" and have come to learn from vikx that it is very likely a '57 (thus the name of this thread). I read through quite a number of discussions/threads here so far and saw a post from a moderator, Ross, about helping with ID using the VIN. I'm presuming that ID can include confirming the year? I did spend a bit of time yesterday wire brushing off a little plate I found sticking up on the tongue and sure enough it had some numbers and letters on it, though hard to read because quite pitted. It does match the VIN on the registration I got transferred to me when I bought her a couple weeks ago, which is Z59752. Here's a pic: www.dropbox.com/s/ntddoyhsicaxpoa/20150812_135814.jpg?dl=0
Today I thought I would be getting to taking off the top and side skins. Gotta laugh at how much time I put into preliminary work first.... You experienced ones out there surely know the slow going of pulling out rusty, sometimes breaking old screws, nails and staples.... though I have to say, many of them came out surprisingly easily (J rail screws were easiest, staples and nails holding skin on were tougher). Here's a pic of the fruits of my labors the past 24 hours: www.dropbox.com/s/5fhegg7ersr5k9u/20150813_191722.jpg?dl=0

Well, I *think* it's a 57 from the body shape, color and interior, but the VIN might be telling us 59. So very hard to tell with these old hams. Both of my 57 Corvette Hams are identical. All but the potty bump in the closet...LOL

Anyone here know that well? I can google it too~ haha, the potty bump ;-) ~ you know, it was so nicely built onto the front of the closet that it almost did seem like it could have been planned that way from factory, but not really~ wood bit different, etc. Still, I'm very seriously considering building that feature back in, maybe even a carefully designed detachable "bump", only take it on certain trips when I know I'll be off grid!

Very nice, wish I still had mine. It turned into a boat trailer for the duck boat.....
