I am installing an AM/FM Digital Media Player in the 65 Aloha and need an antenna for it. After a short search, most of the antennas I have come across are intended to be mounted through auto body sheet metal, or boat fiberglass walls, not a 1-1/2" thick trailer body. The player is mounted inside the upper cabinet over the dinette and I'd like to just poke the antenna cable out the side of the cabinet and mount the antenna to the side of the trailer body. A short little rubber ducky antenna would be fine. Some marine antennas are white, which would make it less obtrusive. I don't want an indoor type. Hoping someone here has gone down this road and can offer some advice. Teaser Pic:

Problem is, everything I have looked at mounts using the threaded stem that the antenna wire attaches to. The stem is secured to the body with a washer and nut. For this to work in the location I want, the stem needs to be at least 2" long. So far, they all appear way too short.
That Shakespeare marine antenna looks like it would do the trick, don't like the price, but may have to pony up.
Ideally, I'd like to find one with a base that is mounted with screws into the outside wall. Maybe I could find a way to modify one, but I'd rather not.
I'll keep looking. Thanks for the suggestions.

Could you add a bracket to the bumper or the tongue, with a detachable arrangement, and run the cable out through the floor underneath? One of those power antennas would be a great gimmick!

I could, but prefer a short rubber antenna, mounted to the side just below the roof line that I could set and forget.

Understand that. That means going through the wall somewhere, unless you could run through a cargo door or a vent....The rubber antennas used to work well for regular AM-FM use, and they used to be readily available at parts stores, like Autozone or somewhere like that. There was one on the dumptruck I was driving, and I ran my XM hookup through it, worked okay too.

Mount the antenna to an aluminum plate slightly larger than the antenna base then drill a hole large enough to recess the rear of the antenna in the side of your trailer where you want the coax to enter next seal the plate with tape same as a window and screw or pop rivet to the trailer. This makes a very professional appearance if done properly.

Its cheap, compact, pivots 180 degrees so it can be side mounted, the mast is removable/replaceable, and has lots of reviews, mostly good. Will probably order an aluminum disk here once I know what size I need. It will be awhile before I can post results.
