My local ACE has birch doorskins for $15, but the last time I checked they were pretty bad with knots and even knockout holes. It would have been nice as my original walls were framed with 3 foot boards, only the roof was 4 foot wide.
I would think replacing 3/16 with 1/8 is fine...many do it. The wood itself isn't very strong either way, but when completely buttoned up, it forms a very strong structure.

Great - i need to lay them all out to see how good they look together and then get the framing in order to support them. I used a couple of them to rebuild a couple of cabinets and they ended up looking great (at least IMHO). I think on the walls they will really have a nice glow.
Thanks as always for the quick responses and support I get here.
