I bought a portable AC unit that fits perfectly in my closet. My idea was to vent it through the old furnace vent, but when I took the cover off, there is a large hole, but no screen or vent cover, and I can't find anything to fit. The plate is 9 inches square with a 5 inch hole in the center. I've purchased several dryer vent covers, but haven't found anything that works.
How was this originally covered? I can't imagine having an open pipe with no grill.
Thanks Cheri

If you can not find one on VTS I have you for you. Its a cool steel vent cover, with a little door that opens on the side of the trailer. You can see the door on this photo. I am not re-using the gas furnace so I was just going to throw it out. If your interested, message me. You will just need to pay for shipping.

Thank you LadyW! Kind of you to offer to Cheri. Very curious about this vent. Do you have a picture of it in the open position?

I will take one. I think it was a very cute feature. I was originally going to install a short portable air conditioner in that side and vent it out there just to keep the cute vent, but I have moved on to deciding to put the air conditioner under the diner, so I can put it on drawer runners and pull it out the utility side of the trailer when in use. I have misgivings about the portable units as I have heard a number of people on Facebook complaining that they don't work well in campers as they generate almost as much heat as cool air. Can't think of anywhere else to use the vent.. but it would be good for a furnace exhaust as originally intended. I am happy for someone else to have it. I will try and snap a photo next time I'm at the trailer.
