Lessons learned- I am going to ask before I jump into making another big mess. I have just finished resealing all 7 of my large windows sort of successfully. It rained this weekend and my 2 large windows experienced some leaking (keep in mind before I touched it there was no leaking). I stood in the pouring rain and added a small string of moretite and I think that did the trick. My door looks like it should come off just like the windows (hex screws). Is there anything I should be ready for in removing the door? I am afraid to take it off and never getting it back on- building a new door is not something I could accomplish with my limited skills. If the door isn't leaking should I just leave it alone?

"Is there anything I should be ready for in removing the door?"
I've worked on and looked at a dozen or so campers and it always seems to be the sill that is in rough shape. I started taking apart my first camper and found a small crack above the door just under the eyebrow (drip rail). Watching Mobiltec's videos will show you that even a pro finds out what's wrong the hard way...by taking it apart.
There's always something.

Viola, did you use new putty under the windows? You may need to tighten the screws a bit if the windows are leaking...
The door is easy to re-putty. I use 1 x 3/16 RV putty tape on a door. It's thicker and oozes better. (if that makes sense)
If you are not rebuilding the trailer, I doubt re-puttying will help much. Rot is often caused by leaky J rail (top edge trim). Water runs down inside the walls and settles at the bottom causing lotsa rotsa.

Viola The door is somewhat awkward to handle by yourself. One person can do it but if you drop it you may get to learn how to rebuild a door.

Thanks everyone! With this information I think I will refrain from removing the door at this time. Nothing is leaking and the trailer is in good shape. Now that I read your comments I wonder if I should remove the J-rail since I know it isn't leaking? I was planning on taking it off when we repaint however if it ain't broke I may not want to fix it!
Thanks vikx for the putty specs- I'll order some- mine was only 1 inch so probably wasn't oozing enough :-)

Where can I purchase 1" wide putty? Roger I get mine at a Trailer Supply a few miles from ny home. You need to find one in your area. Start searching for someone who sells all this stuff. They usually do repair work also
