Hi, I posted this, but have since come up with the answer. I left it so others could learn. I am in the middle of a bearing clean on one of my hubs for my 57 Westerner. When I pulled out the hub, I wasn't paying attention and I didn't notice the exact location of a washer/spacer. It's not the outter washer that goes up against the castle nut. The washer clearly fits the inner wider part of the spindle. I think I pulled it off attached with grease to the inside or outside of the inner bearing. But, I can't be sure if it belongs on the inner side or outerside of the inner bearing. This side has punch marks on it and the other side does not. See below. This side has no punches marks on it. Does the orientation of the punch marks matter when placing the washer/spacer? I called John Palmer and got an answer. The grease seal goes on first, then it turns out, the side with the punch marks goes up against the shaft stop on the inside end of the shaft. The punch marks will stop the washer/spacer from spinning. Next, the inner bearing goes on. Pay attention when you disassemble things. Cheers Rod Rod
