Well,
I was just doing my morning constitutional - reading a few posts on VTT and I hear some rat a tat tat on the roof. I start to think, the rat is back in the attic. We had one for a few nights this week. Then I think, MAN!, the rat must have some buddies now. They sure are making a lot of noise.
A minute goes by.
I continue composing a response to one of my threads.
Man, that's getting more frequent...
IT"S RAIN! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Rod realizes that he didn't cover the trailer last night after he fully loosened the roof.
Ohhhh, for crying out loud. Silent expletives are in my head.
I run out to the drive way. One thought is on my mind. I MUST SAVE ANDY. Andy is my trailer.
Fortunately, I am in my pajamas. That's a good thing. Some people don't wear them, LOL.
As luck would have it, the wind had blown my cover off two nights ago and I had rolled it up for times like this.
I get out the ladder, which is holding up the broken attic ladder which falls to it's stop as I yank my ladder away.
I hurl the big tarp on top and roll away to the left and the right .
Time is of the essence. The sides skins have all been pulled off previously. I need to save what wood I can.
Fortunately, the rain lets up as Rod unfurls the tarp.
A sigh of relief is heard by my dog, as I exhale, having been holding my breath.
But, my job here is not yet done.
The tarp is about 5 months old. (time for a new one) I need to double up. I have some Harbor Freight small freebie tarps in the trailer still bagged. It starts to rain harder. I sacrifice my attire for saving my buddy. Raincoats are for wimps. I quickly rip open their plastic covers from the HF tarps and put two of them up on over the top in overlapping positions.
Okay, I am done. The wind is down and I put some old scrap lumber up on top of the tarps hoping that will keep them in place.
I am in Southern California. We are having a drought... but it rains. Uggggghhh!
The things we do for out trailers...
Gooood Morning!!!
