Hello-
I have a 16 foot 1965 Layton cabover camper I am fixing up. There was some water damage around the front window in the upper cabover part. I need to replace a portion of the ceiling and down past the front window. What material can I get that will make this bend? The old ceiling material looked like 1/8" thick heavy cardboard material. Will luan board bend this much? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Jesse, Welcome to VTT.
It depends on how tight a radius you have. Typically in our vintage trailers we use 1/8" birch plywood. Luan will likely make the bend but is a not a very good choice as it is inherently weak and does not hold up to moisture well at all. By your description, I would guess a type of fiberboard was originally used.
You can maybe use 1/8" tempered harboard and paint it. It is much stronger than Luan, but suffers from exposure to moisture unless a water resistant type is used. I do not know if 1/8" water resistant tempered hardboard is available as I have never had need for it.
