We have a round aluminum tank under the dinette on our astrodome. It's the type that you pressurize with air. We'd like to keep it for water supply on the camper, of course not for drinking. Problem is, how does the fill valve come off the side of the trailer?

This is pretty straight forward. The tank fill is on the side. It is passive, in other words, you take the lid off and run water into the tank. There also might be a hose connection on the underside of the trailer. When water enters the tank, it displaces air which creates the pressure needed to push water thru the system, if the lid gasket is working and the air system intact. There is also an air fitting on the side of the fill to re-pressurize the system with a bicycle (or similar) pump.

I understand how the system works. I just can't figure out how to get the tank fill off so we can take the aluminum off the trailer. Is it threaded onto the tank? Reverse threads? I don't want to break it.

Can you post a photo of your fill? There are different ways they can be removed, depending on the trailer....

We actually got it off last night. Used some liquid wrench on it. We thought it was cast aluminum, but it's brass. It has a big flower shaped screw on lid. Tank is out of the trailer and looks to be in good shape. Thanks for the help.
