Hello! I've finally registered to share our 1957 Rainbow project. She's a beauty that came to us over priced but with all original parts and lots of needed repairs. We love working on her…putting our old house skills to use, now that we don't have an old house. Plus, a vintage trailer equals all sorts of new things to learn about like aluminum polishing. Fun! We've had her since November and started conservatively, removing siding, getting to rot. Now all siding is off (going to replace with all new), all rot has been replaced including in back, both sides and front. Most of the interior has been removed, except the large closet on passenger side, new linoleum is installed, all new birch paneling, and we are in process of shellacking prior to buttoning up the front, we need to install the sink cabinet prior. We own a HVLP from cabinetry work we did years ago and that thing has paid for itself. It would have taken us forever to shellac by hand. 5 of the 7 windows have been polished, making those pits shine!, and they have new seals (from VTS), two more to go…ugh! Glad to finally join and be a part of the community! Here's an original pic, I'll post our build pics in subsequent posts.

Welcome.
That looks like a big can of ham. How long is she?
I agree, the shape is perfect.

Welcome mountainsounds!!
Project trailers are all over priced these days. After you've put in the hundreds of hours and spent the thousands, the original purchase price will be long gone and forgotten. That's my justification anyway.
Nice looking unit. I'd like a larger trailer one of these days. Sounds like you're doing it right. Look forward to seeing more.

Working our way forward...will replace old vent with a fantastic fan which is already sitting in a box in our office. Did I mention that our dining room looks like a vintage trailer exploded in there?

And finally, getting into it for real, all windows out, all siding off, most of the cabinetry removed (and in dining room). If we do another one (what?) we'll start a little differently. Although the slow remove and replace method helped keep the template intact.

Color scheme. Flooring, sheets and fabric for curtains. The original vinyl on the banquette and formica countertops are in good shape, they are green/turquoise, and they will be reinstalled.
