I've been looking at some pictures of work done by many who post on here and have a question about kerfing. When you have to kerf a lot, or layer several kerfed boards, do you try to fill in the gaps at all? It seems like so many holes would make screwing the skin back on somewhat of a challenge. Especially when screwing into the side of the kerfed pieces. Or is it just not a problem?

If the width of the kerf is narrower than the screw shaft, and considering that the kerf partially closes when the wood is bent, then the screws should grab and hold OK. That being said, I prefer laminating strips of 1/4" ACX plywood to kerfing solid wood. Remember to always pre-drill before screwing no matter what method you choose.

I do occasionally glue and fill the kerfs. Popsicle sticks work great: LOL!

LOVE the popsicle sticks! I always find myself using paint stir sticks whenever I need a thin gap filler.
