Ive been searching for a vintage trailer for a while now - a difficult task in the metro Detroit area of Michigan, especially for someone with very little money. This one is the right price, but needs some work (I hope my dad and I are up to it!). I need to figure out how to get it home. It's about a 4 hour drive, and it is not tow worthy...

What did/does it cost? And do you have any interior pictures? It's now tow-worthy meaning it needs tire work, or meaning it needs to be on a flatbed?

s304.photobucket.com/user/negativerobot/slideshow/What%20is%20thisI haven't purchased yet... Still working out the logistics of bringing it home... I think it needs a flatbed.....? Honestly, I'm pretty clueless as a newb... I've been searching for a while, but found nothing remotely in my price range... So I haven't done much planning... This one comes with a popup trailer for parts/to strip and use as a utility trailer... $400 for both.

Interesting camper. I checked out the ad, and even after reading the seller's description, I am not sure if the main camper could be towed with fresh wheel bearing packing and fresh tires. Your catch 22 is your available funds to be able to get the two campers home. If you decide to tow them yourself, that is 2, 8-hour round trips (if it is 4 hours to get to them), or putting both campers on a fairly long flatbed trailer. It is a lot to consider along with the campers being in an active ad. I hope it works out for you, but if you decide not to pull the trigger, check ads frequently every day. Something may show up in your immediate vicinity. It seems like I saw a few inexpensive interesting campers come out of the Detroit area a couple of years back, right about this time of the year.
Sure would be nice if there was a name stamped into the pull out step under the door...

I really like the trailer!
Do some research on "why" it can't be towed. If the frame is broken, you may want to pass without a welder in the family... Vintage trailers are never cheap to fix. Every time you turn around it's more $$$ for parts...
It might be a home built and a very nice one at that. Depends on the interior. Many had plywood cabinets and less fancy floor plans. Appliances were often missing or very simple.
Good luck to you.

This is a stale ad, but if it is still available. It appears to be towable. It is a cool shape and great year Franklin. Some neat appliances too. Might try and see if there is wiggle room in the price if it still has not been sold. And it has a Title. nmi.craigslist.org/rvs/4996600952.htmlUpdate: Found this updated ad for the Franklin at a reduced price...Now it is getting very interesting imho... grandrapids.craigslist.org/rvs/5016964901.html
