We purchased this camper late last fall. Now that spring is here, it is time to start restoring here. Have many pictures that I will post to photobucket later today but have uploaded the exterior ones a few minutes ago. Unfortunately did not take photos of interior ceiling before we started demolition but managed to stop myself after interior ceiling and interior front and back were removed. Have discovered more rot than we thought but we are up to the challenge (with your help)
thanks

Not sure why that happened - if anyone knows how I can fix it, pls let me know. I clicked on the link and it went to my 50 photos of the garway. Below I have linked to the slideshow feature on photobucket - hopefully that works for you s1026.photobucket.com/user/geebee21/slideshow/

It should be a fun project.
There is always more rot than you expect. Comes with the territory.
Enjoy!

I think I now have a handle on all the rot. At least I have one front corner that does not need any work!
Managed to get the Morphy-Richards fridge running today. Lit like a charm and within 2 hours, fridge was at 30 degrees. Trav'ler cooktop also functioning well. Tomorrow will tackle the Glen-Aire furnace. The switch mechanism was stuck but after a week of soaking in PB Plaster, it finally released. Have had pilot working but when I release the pilot, there is no main flame. Unfortunately, the markings on the knob are gone but will play with it tomorrow and hopefully get it working.

Congratulations. You are the first I have heard of yet that had any success in getting an old Astral fridge to perform that well. They are such simple machines, but there is no fix to them when they go bad. One thing you may need to watch out for with the furnace...insects and rodents can get inside the main burner assembly and plug everything up. It may require taking the burner apart to clean it. That could be causing the failure of the main burner to fire. It could also be a failed thermocouple, but I would try cleaning first. It's cheaper. Your marker lights look like the ones I replaced on the EssSee. In case you're in need,I found them here: www.vintagecampers.com/viewpart.php?partID=899www.vintagecampers.com/viewpart.php?partID=898

I too was very surprised with how well it lit - pilot lit easily and then after 60 seconds we heard the click and the main burner ignited. Even managed to clean up the "mirror" so you can see the main burner flame from the front.
Thanks for the heads up on the furnace. I did have to pull a bunch of insulation from the burner but think I should do as you suggest and take it apart further before relighting.
Thanks for the links - will check them out. It appears that the current lights on the trailer are not original as there are screw holes around all the lights and they appeared to be round, nor rectangular.
Cannot find many garways (early 60's) to compare to but have found a couple. Also have found Garwoods (usually late 50"s). These companies must be related, if not the same. The "GAR" on the plaque by the doors look identical and a 59 Garwood that I have found online is virtually identical to my Garway.
Working on rebuilding the corners. Hope to start installing the birch plywood in a couple of weeks. It has been a fun project so far.

It looks great. You did a terrific job saving her.
Are those Armstrong tiles? I like the green.
Thanks for sharing the photos.
