I'm trying to find a spare rim as my 61 Shasta compact didn't come with one when I bought it. I can't seem to find a rim that looks the same as my current wheels. I thought I might put baby moons on them so that if I ever need to use the spare it will look the same. However! When ordering baby moon hub caps how do I know if they will fit (and stay on) my 13" 4 on 4 rims?

This is a tough one. You have to have the right "kind" of rim for moons, plus measurements need to be EXACT. There are hubcaps available online that may fit. The 13" rims make it more difficult to fit. Do lots of research before committing.
I'm sure more knowledgeable members will chime in...

Try 1960 to 1963 Ford Falcon 13" wheels, for the six cylinder engine cars. The six cylinder cars had four bolt wheels, and the V8 engine cars had five bolt wheels.
These wheels will have the external bumps for the hub cap on the centers.

Source one and try to match it up. Or remove a wheel and take it to the salvage yard that thinks they have what you need, and ask them to help you match the rim.

I got lucky yesterday and found the exact rim/wheel as I currently have on my Shasta! Thanks so much to you guys for pointing me in the right direction! It has to be stripped and repainted but I would have done that anyway. Once again a VTT has been a great resource. I don't know how anyone maintains a vintage camper with out this forum. Lots of money I guess to pay expensive people to do it all for them!
Thanks to you all, Ann

The baby moons that fit are most likely 9". And can't be sure about 61's but my 62 originals are cone shaped rather than round, sort of pointy looking instead of dome looking. The replacement baby moons on VTS will not fit unless they've gotten some new sizes recently. I did find some at J.C. Whitney but I did not order them. They came in sets of 4 and I only need 2. I'm sure they are the "cheap" version but they would look better than my originals.

I always thought they were baby moons. I primed the camper today and paint will go on in the next day or two...weather permitting. Wings and hubcaps are next.

I have my originals, but they look bad. I have a pic here of them somewhere. I'll find it tomorrow.

Just finding a matching wheel satisfies me for now, I will strip it, get the rust off and paint it to match my current wheels. Moons may come later. I have lots to do before that!

Yeah, I got part of the dog instead, Vikx.
Nc, I looked at Mikes, and I honestly don't remember but for some reason, I kept looking.

Alright nccamper, we all know you have been agonizing over your painting, well maybe agonizing isn't the best word, nonetheless, a full write up with pictures, lots of pictures, will be expected from you. Good luck with the painting.
