You can always replumb.. or you can lay that tank down and have the gray water come out the bottom. The tank has two fittings. The other fitting is on the other side so you can't see it. Look them up on a google search.

I like the external tank on wheels idea. Then I dont have to replumb, and will just find a cover for the drain fitting and sink trap vent which is already there. Thanks all for ideas and pics. Roger

The blue stand up tank with wheels on it is available at any RV store in many sizes including 20 gallons. Some even have ball hitch attachments so you can tow it to the dump station at an RV park for easy dumping. Or towing away from a creek due to laws regarding dumping within 100 feet of a creek or stream... You can barely see the bottom of the vent just above the drain tube. The exterior through-wall drain hook up is also available at any RV store. I need an RV store nearby...Went to West Marine and a tank like that was $65!

If you don't want to install an outside vent next to the sink you can use an air admittance valve. Here is an inexpensive example from Home Depot. You install this with a tee at a level above the p trap on the sink. It's basically a one way valve that allows air to flow into plumbing system but will not allow gasses / smells from the gray tank inside. The incoming air compensates for the vacuum created by the flowing water.

In my concrete block home, I used one in the main kitchen sink as they originally vented the sink through the cabinets and I didn't want to cut a hole in the wall and run a vent pipe on an exterior wall. My crazy house was good prep for the crazy world of trailer renovation.

Good idea, I may use it to eliminate the vent.

I have my sink drain going to the back of the cabinet then 90 degree straight down through the floor with no water trap. I put a 5 gallon bucket under the trailer to catch the water. I take 3 empty buckets camping. One bucket goes under the toilet seat at night. We only use the potty to pee in at night. We use the camp ground toilets during the day. When the sink bucket is about 3/4 full I swap it with the other empty bucket.

When the sink bucket is about 3/4 full I swap it with the other empty bucket. That's the way it was in the old days. No need for a trap because of no storage tank. (gray water tank) With the pee only type toilet same thing. No need for a trap because of no storage tank. You only need a vent if you have a trap and are connected to other drains. That is to keep back gassing from happening where you would have gasses come up through the drains and into the trailer. Just like in houses. Now with a fully self contained trailer you have storage tanks and you need both the trap and the vent. And your black water should never connect to the gray water lines. Both need their own lines and both need their own tanks. In the older days like with my 59, the drains were connected and only had one tank for both gray and black water. Not up to code today though. Gray water is drains from sinks and shower. Black water is from toilets.

I subscribe to a number of farm magazines, and almost everyone of them talks about being able to irrigate the garden with grey water. Imo it is ludicrous to require grey water to be considered hazardous waste and treated accordingly. PC running rampant!! It takes a village to POLICE the villagers.

In California you are allowed to water your plants and lawn with gray water. But you are not allowed to release it onto the ground within 100 feet of any creek, stream, river or other body of water.

I agree on the no trap scenario and going down thru the floor. It is so much easier to care for and future owners don't have to winterize...
