A little bit of shellac will take care of that ceiling... I don't know anything about east coast trailers but I like the shape and the windows. Looks to be late 50s. If you need to replace seals or glass in those solid windows I have a tutorial about how to remove the glass and reseal them. All my tutorials are free just like all the info on this forum. You're going to need 14 or 15 sheets of birch to rebuild it. Read all you can about that on this forum. Don't just start "gutting" it until you know how these things go back together. All the metal skins will have to be removed to replace the birch. Are there any cabinets in it? Or is it already gutted?

Oh that cleaned up nicely. I see that only the roof has J rail. The rear and front has cap rail. That cap rail will leak after five years or so. It's not as good of a corner sealer as the fold over method combined with J rail like the roof. Shasta did this same thing in the 50s. The only way to change it is to replace the front and rear skin with new, fold it over the sides and continue the J rail. The cap rail can be made to last longer with the proper amount and placement of putty tape but replacing the framing in those corners will most likely be needed. It all depends on the amount of rot there now. Great looking trailer.

The camper has been taken down to the frame, replaced bad welds, sandblasted, painted ,all wood framing floor to ceiling replaced, added 1/4 inch plywood on outside framing. The skins do not wrap around corners like the roof but they do have J channel on them. At this point I dont plan on replacing those skins so I will make sure to seal properly.Thank you for your input, this site has been a great help. ther Yes there was some rot.

I got it straight now it's cap rail on the corners, will take extra care in sealing them.I see how wrapping the corners would be much better than butt joints.

I would use one inch wide putty tape. You can trim the excess off after screwing it down with a razor knife. Do it when it's cooler. Not in the sun. Then put it out in the sun and snug the screws down a little more and then trim again once it cools down. Should seal good.

Is this a Shasta look-alike? It looks like an Airflyte.

It looks a _lot_ like an Airflyte - even the small vertical window on the street side. The roof line looks a little less curved. The Z stripe was a fair copy, too.
Kind of hard to tell about the inside :-)
I love the polish job.
Needs wings!

I think this camper looks like a copy of a late fifties Shasta, was copying other campers common? They are to similar to not be a copy or have some other connection.

Yes and it's still a very common practice today. Aristocrat was the most famed trailer manufacturer to copy Shastas. Forester copied Deville. Everyone else copied each other. Kenskills and Traveleze are very simular. Oasis, Rainbows and Jewels were all pretty much the same. The list goes on.
