Just a note to let you all know that Steve Loomis at Hemet Valley RV and Siding is now selling J Rail and Awning Rail. He will ship it in 8 foot or 16 foot lengths or any length 16 feet or under that you want. I have looked at both the J rail and Awning Rail and it's the same stuff I have been using for years. So when you order your new skin or roof, You can get new awning and J rail too! I'll be doing a short video on these new items shortly. On a similar note, I just noticed that VTS is now selling brand new vintage looking 12vdc Gas Lamps. They are $99 and look like the real thing. I love them. I'm ordering at least one for the Kenskill. www.vintagetrailersupply.com/12_Volt_Gas_Lamp_p/vts-2059.htm

Good on Hemet Valley, for someone that is replacing, it will be a great resource to be able to order all the trim all together with the new sheet work.
I saw this lamp the other day when I was poking around trying to source some parts. I love the idea of a replacement lamp that is 12-volt...so much safer for those that don't know from propane installation so well...*raises hand* ... I had been considering adding a propane lamp to the "Esss-Seee". However, I am not opening walls up (yet) and running a gas line is not really an easy thing with closed walls...12-V is a lot simpler to run. That being said, this is the wrong style for the originals in the SC, maybe someone will recreate the ones with the "crocus" globes one day....(I know, I know...picky picky.)

Definitely safer. It is a replica of the gas light wired and lighted with a 12-volt lamp. No LP gas dangers, no copper lines to run, still a "nice" feel to it with the original styling, and also still an added lamp to the interior. Hmmmm...I think I just sold myself....

Here's where everything comes full circle, that light was developed for the new Shasta.

Didn't someone do a FIY on converting our original gas lamps to 12 volts on the old Shasta site? I remember a pictorial somewhere, or do I? What IS my name?

Yep. I'd rather spend my time on other things though so this will come in handy.

Original gas lights can be converted to 12 volt or 110. I've done both. The larger bodied lights are easier, the wires will run thru the tubing. I like the idea of not having to fit my own...

Hi,
I am really curious as to how the lighting feels with the Edison setting? Once someone has spent some time with one of these, can you give a review?
I just don't like LED lighting.
Cheers

Cheers Rod I'll let you know but it will be a while before I install the ones I'm putting in the Kenskill. Don't know if one is going in the Aljoa yet but if it does that will be the first one. I don't really like most LED lighting either. I guess it has both??? "Position 1: antique style edison filament bulb that simulates the look of gas Position 2: LED lighting inside at the top of the globe that provides a brighter light Position 3: both the edison and the LED providing the brightest light"

Imho they're not super bright. But they're safer than the originals. Also just my opinion is most people hate LED's because the white is usually really bright and a odd color, nit a soft/warm white like a incandescent bulb. In the last year or so they've come leaps and bounds and the sift white is much better than it use to be. I have switched all my builds in both my house and trailer to LED's, I think they work great and don't produce any heat, so there is no danger of scorching the lamp shades! Stock photo taken off the net from one of the reissues!
