This thing followed me home last night...so its time to figure out what I have and how to get it ready for summer. Does anyone know about the 1957 Terrys? Seems like its in decent shape, all the woodwork is good, not a ton of rot, siding is clean....but I'm like a new proud parent, I can't see the blemishes through my new rose colored glasses. I've restored old cars and houses before so this seems like a bit of both of those in one. Can't wait!!

Welcome!
Your camper looks great.
Any photos of the inside?
I have been followed home at night before but it didn't work out as well.

Looks like fun. No matter what you find when you remove those glasses, keep telling yourself "it's fun, it's fun"! Welcome to the madness, er, fun.

Thanks for the welcomes. I'll get some pictures of the inside this weekend. I haven't had a chance to even unhook it from the truck. Its pretty dismantled, the previous owner (neighbor/friend) started what I'll finish. But all the pieces seem to be there.
I'll definitely asking questions as I go.

It must have been a lot of work gutting it without taking the skin off.
You may already know this... It will be easier (hard to believe) repairing the panels, insulation and edging by pulling off the skin one section at a time. With so many panels missing I wouldn't pull it all off at once. Other people might have other opinions.
Have you seen the videos Mobiltec made? Cannedhamtrailers.com/57shasta.htm
Looks like a fun project.

Well said, NC.
Fred, Sealing is done with RV putty tape after repairs are made to the structure and skins are re-attached. Caulk sealants tend to be a temporary patch. Roof Goop is not going to help at all, and in fact can cause roof metal damage.
You have a beautiful little trailer. Take your time and do it right.

Thanks for the input. I wasn't looking for a quick fix with the sealant from inside idea, I thought it might work well, using automotive seamsealer or something similar to what airstream does. But after watching the videos by mobiltec, I'm ready to stat taking the skins off, panel at a time.

But after watching the videos by mobiltec, I'm ready to stat taking the skins off, panel at a time. You'll be surprised how much easier it is doing the work from the outside in. The skin takes a few hours to get off. Not hard at all. The parts of the project I think are the toughest... sanding and shellac for new panels. And polishing the skin. Rewarding, but toxic. Wear a resperator!
