Thanks for the compliments! I will post pics of the progress. Just got done ordering the foam from fabulessfabrics.com. I don't know if the quality is up to snuff, but for $37 per piece of foam (72"x24"x4"), I thought I would give it a try. My girlfriend sews and will do the upholstering and curtains. Before your girlfriend gets to upholstering, here are a few handy hints... 1) BEFORE you do ANY cutting or sewing of anything, put those cushions down on the bed and lay on them for at least 30 minutes, back, both sides, stomach. Only then will you know whether they are dense enough to support you while you sit AND while you sleep. If you find yourself bottoming out, find another use for them: it's not worth the time and effort that making nice cushion covers for inadequate cushions. 2) Good fabric (and really cute stuff like you found) is not inexpensive. It needs to be fairly heavy duty to stand up to all that sitting and lying down. If yours is not upholstery grade, then use it for curtains and find something else for the cushions that coordinates. 3) Wrap the foam in polyester upholstery batting before you cover it. (Make the undercover - like a pillow protector- out of unbleached muslin and sew the end closed by hand.) It gives the cushions a more finished, professional look, even if you choose not to use a corded edge. 4) Cut the fabric the same size as the cushions. DO NOT add extra width or length for seams. If you do that, the covers will be loose. 5) Stand back and enjoy your beautiful work. We can't wait to see more pictures!

I have the cushions ordered and just bought the upholstery material for the cushions and curtain bottoms. Here it is: The girlfriend and I will start staining the temporary table with this moose silhouette this weekend: I ordered the pyrex globe and got the laminate wood flooring from the extra I had from my basement remodel last summer. I got all of my interior decor from the 1976 Blazer Chalet I just sold and will put it in the new to me Cardinal. It is all coming together! I will update with pictures when we complete each project. Oh you had a Blazer Chalet? That's the one with the custom cab over camper isn't it? If so do you have any pics and what did you get for it???

Thank you for the information, Hamlet! I will do as you suggest with the cushions. The fabric that I purchased is upholstery grade (made for covering furniture). We were going to use piping, but decided against it because of the special foot needed. My mother worked for American Furniture Warehouse as an upholsterer and said that the welting was not needed. We will purchase batting and wrap it before we upholster and make sure it is the same size as the cushions. We will have to measure out the seat bottoms first and then cut the other two pieces of foam to fit for the bed/seat backs. I appreciate the information!! This site is a great source of knowledge for DIY projects in our trailers.....so glad I joined

Wow that's just beautiful. You did a great job on it. I almost bought one that was in all original condition but the seller wanted $5k for it with 4 flat tires. I passed.
I have a 78 Blazer.

They are getting more popular. If there was no rust through, the engine ran well, the interior was in good shape and the furnace, stove and sink worked, $5k was reasonable even with the flat tires Thank you for the compliment, it was a labor of love with that rig. I hated to let it go, but it was time to move on to a new project....a 1978 Ford F250 4x4 Ranger with the Explorer Package and Camper Special option. It is a 1 of 1 built with all of those options and I will use it to haul the Cardinal, plus I can put the 4 wheeler in the bed. It will be a slow restoration!

There was no rust but the motor was frozen up. He didn't know what was wrong with it. I didn't really have the money to put into it at the time.... Haven't seen one since till now. Here's my 78. It's in a lot of my videos.

Nice camping rig! Are the shaved rear fender wells for rock climbing or rust prevention? It looks like it would do great for hauling a little vintage camper. I love square bodies and have another one besides the Chalet I sold. An 87 Silverado 4x4. One of the best overall trucks I have owned. I will use it to haul the camper in parades and such. I love your rig and think that it would be great to have the top off and cruise the mountains with fresh air all around. Here is my 87 I am a certified car/truck nut, too!! Hahaha

LOL sometimes it's just easier to cut metal off rather than repair it all the time. Those panels receive a lot of damage in the places I go so I just trimmed them off the same time I built the rear bumper and installed it. 2x6 metal tubing 1/4 inch thick. That bumper is bomb proof. It also has a hitch receiver built into it.
Going topless is great but I need a bikini top to keep the back of my neck out of the sun.

I did see the rear bumper with hitch in one of your videos. It's well built. I can see why you would need a top for your blazer....Californian deserts are sunny and hot! Hahaha Thanks again!
