I've never owned a travel trailer. 2 days ago I brought home this sweet camper that needs some TLC. smells a little bit. It appears that much of the paneling toward the backside has water damage and needs replacing. I got lucky and had warm weather so I used mobile home roof sealant over the seams. looks like thats what the previous owner used a while ago but there were leaks. he had it covered with a tarp when i picked it up. The aluminum front window cover frame is damaged. I'll need advice with the electrical/battery system as well. There is lots of reading to do on here..i could spend hours that i don't have searching for specific repair help; so much info is awesome!…
i was wondering if there was someone willing to chat over the phone, or exchange messages and pictures to help me out with my new project? i only want to do whats necessary and not a full blown restore. also if there are any rallys or round ups in or near Wisconsin? or does anyone know of a good guy to go to in Wisconsin for help with this thing? Thanks! jake

First and foremost, welcome to VTT Jake! Great folks here with a ton of knowledge. Now, I'd recommend you start watching mobiltec's VIDs. Here's a direct link to his page www.cannedhamtrailers.com/. His VIDs are the best out there, period..and he takes the viewer through each step in repairing/restoring vintage trailers. He does it because, well he's mobiltec and likes to help folks but he does accept donations on his page to help feed his yellow lab Those darn dogs eat a lot. Roof sealer, aka, goop is not good nor is it your friend. I suspect you'll be removing some skins off your Shasta and repairing the damage to the framing, paneling, perhaps even flooring that lurks beneath those pretty painted skins; back to mobiltec's VIDs. Working on these things isn't that tuff but you've gotta do your research first. Again, welcome. Pull up a log by the fire, a beverage of choice, and chime in whenever you wish! RJ
