Whenever I go out on an errand the last few weeks, I've been kind of window shopping for vintage trailers. Apart from the Palace trailer from another thread, I've only spotted one other. I was kind of disappointed, but today a friend invited me to take a ride to a town about 45 miles away and as he was driving, I was looking in yards and I found a total of 7 that looked really interesting. A mid-sized one from maybe around 1950 and one very sweet looking smaller canned ham from probably the early to mid 50's. The rest I'm guessing were late 50's-60's. So I was encouraged. I'm keeping a record of what I find and I will be checking these out come spring. Jim

Jim, Don't wait till spring! Now's the timewling around in the snow or mud to check out a trailer, and none of us are in our right mid, eh. Besides, by spring a frame off might be going for thousands, the way things are going. Good hunting and good luck.
Make yourself a plastic lanyard card with a picture of an old ham, a title like 'licensed travel trailer historical and rescue society' your name and phone #, and ask if the owner would like to have his rig removed and repectfully rescued. You might be surprised how many people just want the darn thing out of their yard.

Have to wait till spring. Right now only the top half of the trailers are visible.

What state are you in? You must be out west.
In NC I've seen one other vintage camper in two years.
I'm the one being stalked here!

I'm in Michigan. Things are looking up though. Saturday I took a short ride out of town with my wife and spotted a few more. It's odd how many can be found when you really start looking seriously.

I feel your pain nccamper we have the Gulf of Mexico to our backs so we only have 180 degrees to go out and search. I probably return a call to at least 1 person every two weeks who has hazarded passing two or three NO TRESPASSING signs to put a note on one of my campers to ask if it/they are for sale. Could be a good thing though, since I do not need any more at this time...but I sure wish I would spot a Lil Loafer hidden back behind an outbuilding...

Yesterday I was visiting another friend and I mentioned that I was interested in old travel trailers. I said people were spending a lot of money fixing them up and they were getting pretty popular. He kind of chuckled and said, "Those old things are worthless". I didn't say anything because I think I kind of like that attitude. I hope more people around here feel the same way.

I drive around a lot in eastern Iowa for work and spot them in the fields, or old lots quite a bit. They is an late 50's early 60's AstroDome a couple blocks from our office. Sad to seem them sitting there, but I already have one to work on. And 1 is enough for me!
