Well, my girl is FINALLY on her way. A tilt bed tow truck picked her up, transferred her, and now she is headed 1000 miles west. I have a whole list of items to check when she gets here. I feel like I've been involved in an Internet romance, and now I'm finally going to meet her. I just hope this doesn't end up like that movie Catfish...
I will see her Monday! Then we will see what name suits her. Something with Gypsy, or Queen of the Prairie, or Husband's favorite - Honeybee.

She arrived - twenty four hours early! The dock we were going to use is closed on the weekend, so we had to scramble for a tilt bed tow truck. We unloaded her at the local hardware store's parking lot, which had way more space than our little two lane road we live on. I think she's in really excellent shape. I see a few spots that need extra inspection, the rear underneath the PO-installed AC and some light watermarks under a window and a ceiling vent. The wood inside the bottom of the door looks bad, too, but all in all a really solid, well cared for trailer. It hasn't been camping for 20 years, and yet there is no smell or sign of mice, just a few dead bugs here and there. The original tiles are under the carpet, but they're showing some wear, which explains the carpet. There's no globe on the propane light, but I wasn't going to use it anyway. It's in remarkable shape. Even the curtains are great. I need to recover the cushions as they have split, and air her out, and then address the water issues I've mentioned, but I think she's going to be great. She generated a lot of interest in the parking lot, a guy stopped who wants to repaint her when she's ready. He climbed underneath and was astounded at the great shape of things (I had the kids so couldn't be crawling around.) I found some notes written by what looks like friends of the PO who borrowed her to camp, clean sheets, and what looks like an unused awning and some old poles. We're the original awnings all striped? This one is a solid yellow. A really dark yellow headed to orange, whereas the trailer is cream and pale yellow. I realize the trailer could be sun faded, but I believe they kept her mostly indoors, which seems believable if you could see her.

There's a vintage Shasta propane-light globe that was just listed a few hours ago on eBay, it's just like the one in our '61 Airflyte so it should be the correct one for your Astrodome. Would love to see photos of your new addition!

If they kept in indoors be careful it may leak if you leave it outdoors as the sealing putty may have become dry and cracked allowing it to start leaking. Congratulations on your purchase.

I just have photos on my phone, I will see if Husband (who is in charge of photo technology around here) will help. I will be doing some work on her or having some work done to her I'd I can find someone qualified, and new putty is on the list. I heard she was rained on a lot the weeks she spent waiting to be sold then waiting for transport, as recently as a few days ago, but I don't see any moisture now. The wood is so dry, I'm going to condition it, but these Midwestern humid summers should help too I would think.

I think your "yellow gone orange" awning is a bunk. Almost all Shasta bunks were that weird color... Glad she is safely home.

I'm pretty sure it's an awning- I unfolded it - its enormous and has the drop down edges on three sides, plus the fourth edge is made so that it can be fed through the awning rail. There's really no place for a bunk in there with the three beds. It's got some black smudges on it that I'm going to try and get out and then maybe sell it. It's cool, but it doesn't coordinate with the current color, or any color I might paint it in the future. I wonder if I could get enough for a yellow, red and turquoise striped one from redwings...
I was amazed at how big the upper bunk really is. I figured twin size but its much bigger, 45.5 inches wide. My little boy points out the upper windows to everyone who comes to see it and tells them, "That's my bed up there, those are my windows." I love that!
I was tired of our pop up for several reasons, but one of them is that you can't hang anything on the walls. The wood in the Shasta is so beautiful that I'm loathe to put a nail in her. Sigh. First World problems, for sure!

Hi, it's now April 2015 and I recently was given an Astrodome exactly like yours! Did you get yours glamped and do you still have it? I would love to see finished pics. We're your beds intact/original? Mine are missing and I can find no pics of original. My dome is so intact I'd like to restore rather than change anything. Thanks
